About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing, locally-owned engineering manufacturer, designing and building factory-fabricated modular solutions for commercial heating and cooling applications used by major organisations across Europe. Despite rapid growth in recent years, they've held onto a close-knit, family-style culture built around small, connected teams. As part of a newly formed Manufacturing Business Unit bringing together multiple sites into one high-performing operation, they're looking for a Technical Fabrication Engineer to help shape how fabrication and welding manufacturing evolves across the business.

The Role

This is a senior, high-impact role sitting between the digital model, engineering office and production floor. You'll review fabrication drawings and BIM/3D models ahead of production, ensuring information is accurate, manufacturable, weldable and efficient to produce, while working closely with a senior leadership team spanning Commercial, Planning & Forecasting, HSE, Quality and Plant Assets.

Day to day, you'll:

• Identify dimensional, design, clash, access and constructability issues before they reach the workshop
• Develop efficient fabrication strategies, logical sub-assemblies and practical fabrication packages
• Reduce unnecessary welds, production time, handling and rework, considering welding access, sequence, distortion and available equipment
• Work with engineering, production and welding teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues
• Ensure BIM-derived information is practical and usable on the shop floor
• Support continuous improvement through automation, mechanisation, tooling and new manufacturing technology
• Develop improved fabrication methods and measure their impact on efficiency, quality and cost
• Review fabrication drawings and BIM models before production, ensuring they're accurate, manufacturable and efficient to produce

What We're Looking For

• An engineering mindset, ideally with fabrication and welding experience (pipework or plumbing backgrounds also considered)
• Familiarity with technical drawings, BIM and/or 3D models, with the judgement to assess how complex assemblies should be manufactured safely and efficiently
• Strong planning and self-management skills, able to regulate priorities and deliver results
• A focus on operational excellence — driving productivity, cost control and quality
• A continuous improvement mindset, comfortable challenging constructively and turning ideas into results
• Experience with Revit, BIM or CAD is an advantage, including producing fabrication outputs or logical sub-assemblies from 3D models
• Experience working collaboratively across production, engineering and fabrication teams
• Knowledge of welding/fabrication standards and automated or mechanised fabrication is a plus
