Job Description
As a Juvenile Corrections Security Officer - Entry Control in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will manage entry points, verify credentials, issue badges, and monitor access activity to help maintain a secure environment. You will provide professional customer service, communicate clearly with staff and visitors, and use technology to document security-related activity. This driving position requires a valid driver’s license.

- Provide customer service to staff, visitors, residents, and other authorized individuals by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities at a government juvenile justice location.
- Control access to the facility by verifying identification, credentials, authorization, and visitor entry requirements in accordance with site-specific procedures.
- Monitor entry and exit points, visitor activity, alarms, cameras, and other access-control systems; report irregularities and unauthorized access attempts to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, interior areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
- Comfortable use of a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
