NATURE OF WORK

Early Board Election Workers perform early ballot processing tasks under direct supervision of the Election Services Division.

(Illustrative Only) Opens, verifies and removes early ballots from voter affidavit envelopes; reviews early ballots for damages and duplicates damaged ballots, as necessary, according to the Arizona Secretary of State Elections Procedures Manual; creates and maintains audit log accuracy for early ballots, according to the Arizona Secretary of State Elections Procedures Manual; coordinates with Voter Services staff on identified early ballot issues; may lead and train temporary election workers; regular and reliable attendance is required.

High School Diploma or GED and recent election experience in at least one election cycle OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be available to work an irregular schedule if necessary, to include evenings, weekends and holidays in consideration of election cycles; must be a registered voter of Yuma County; must have the ability to arrange own transportation.

Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; election statutes, policies, rules and regulations; voting device technology and programs; training and leading the work of others; Secretary of State’s Elections Procedures Manual. 

Skill in: Performing accurate clerical work; organization and documentation; team-oriented activities.  

Ability to: Accurately complete detail-oriented assignments in a fast-paced environment; use modern office equipment and computers; communicate effectively; lift up to 5 – 25 lbs; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without reasonable accommodations.   

Work Environment:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity; generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 20% walking and 10% standing; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
