POSITION SUMMARY

The Research Assistant will provide research support to a specific project. Working under the general direction of the Primary Investigator, the Research Assistant will be responsible for providing support in doing literature reviews and data analysis, coordinating the day-to-day research activities of the study. 
Specific responsibilities will depend on the topic, nature and duration of the project, as provided by the Primary Investigator. 
As a Level 4 Research Assistant, you will be expected to contribute specialist support with technical or specialist expertise.

Duties may include, but not limited to

Research

  • Conduct academic literature review under the supervision of the CI.
  • Coordinate relevant stakeholder meetings for data collection or project-related events as required.
  • Conduct, record, and transcribe interviews in English or Vietnamese, including translation when necessary.
  • Assist with the survey design, pilot tests, and interview protocols.
  • Ensure that data collection, storage, and preliminary analysis follow required research protocols and ethical standards.

Data Analysis

  • Carry out qualitative and quantitative data analysis using appropriate tools and methods.

Project Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise communication between the research team and research participants including recruitment posting, interview/survey invitations, token of gratitude sent, member checking sent.
  • Support day-to-day research activities and ongoing project coordination with CI and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop internal and external contacts to further knowledge exchange and form collaborative networks.
  • Prepare industry reports related to research outcomes, including presentations, media articles.

Compliance and Professional Standards

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and University policies, including research ethics, equity, health and safety, and data security requirements.
  • Demonstrate good practices aligned with RMIT values and professional standards at all times.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A postgraduate degree (Master’s) in Business Administration, Management, HR, Marketing, or a related Social Science field.
  • Demonstrated research experience, including primary and/or secondary data collection, supporting research manuscript development, and contributing to research design in Arts, Science, Social Science, or Business.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, evaluate, coordinate, and report research findings.
  • Knowledge of literature review databases and experience using them for systematic searches.
  • Experience in preparing research manuscripts, industry reports, and developing graphical or visual presentations of data.
  • Technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to use NVivo, and/or R.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow through on complex tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team, including collaboration with colleagues, CI, relevant stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in both English and Vietnamese.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional and ethical behaviour aligned with RMIT values.
