Overview
A Measurement Technician is responsible for ensuring oil and/or natural gas production is measured accurately. They work in the field maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing the equipment used to measure flow, volume, pressure, temperature, and product quality
Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain oil and gas measurement equipment
- Work with Electronic Flow Measurement (EFM) / flow computers
- Inspect and maintain meters, meter tubes, orifice plates, pressure and temperature equipment
- Work with Coriolis, ultrasonic, turbine, and/or positive displacement meters
- Perform meter proving/calibrations and identify measurement discrepancies
- Collect oil/gas samples and maintain sampling systems
- Work with gas chromatographs and other gas-quality equipment
- Troubleshoot SCADA, communications, radios, antennas, and related instrumentation
- Review measurement data to identify inaccurate readings or equipment problems
- Maintain accurate measurement documentation and regulatory records
- Travel independently to field locations and respond to equipment or measurement issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required equivalent.
- Previous oil & gas measurement experience preferred/required depending on level.
- Experience installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting oil and/or natural gas measurement equipment.
- Knowledge of Electronic Flow Measurement (EFM) systems and flow computers.
- Experience with measurement equipment such as Coriolis, ultrasonic, turbine, orifice, and positive displacement meters.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel independently between field locations.
- Ability to work outdoors in oilfield environments and safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must meet conditional job offer requirements.
