Description
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Dishwasher to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Dishwasher is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization of dining ware, utensils, and cookware through machine and manual washing processes. This individual plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness standards and compliance with safety protocols. Key duties include, but are not limited to:
Machine Washing
Operating scullery machines and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended procedures and safety precautions.
Performing machine washing to ensure dining ware and utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to safety standards.
Monitoring and recording operating temperatures of all washing cycles to ensure compliance with sanitization standards as outlined in Section 5, Appendix K of NAVSUP P-486.
Maintaining accurate temperature logs for all washing cycles and providing logs for review when requested by the Government or Food Service Officer.
Reviewing temperature monitoring logs with the Food Service Officer as needed to ensure proper adherence to operational standards.
Ensuring no shortages of dining ware or utensils during meal periods by maintaining an organized washing process.
Manual Washing
Performing manual washing to clean and sanitize cookware, utensils, and other kitchen tools effectively.
Storing all cleaned and sanitized items in their proper locations to ensure an organized and efficient kitchen environment.
Following safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
Maintaining cleanliness and functionality of scullery machines and washing equipment.
Performance Standards
Ensuring compliance with NAVSUP sanitation and temperature guidelines, including Section F of the contract agreement.
Guaranteeing that all scullery logs, sanitization, and cleaning processes are accurate, up to date, and available for review upon request.
Handling no more than five validated customer complaints per month regarding the cleanliness of dining ware and utensils.
Supporting kitchen staff to prevent shortages of clean dining ware and ensuring smooth meal service operations.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1-2 years of experience in a food service or sanitation role, including machine and manual washing processes.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling and cleaning techniques.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills to ensure continuous availability of clean dining ware and utensils during all meal periods.
Ability to follow operating procedures and safety precautions for scullery machines and other equipment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Valid country driver’s license.
Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
Familiarity with NAVSUP P-486 requirements or similar military food service and sanitation standards.
Experience maintaining temperature logs and ensuring compliance with Government food safety guidelines.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
