Job Description:
The Cost Recovery Specialist is responsible for identifying, recovering, and preventing financial leakage across grocery retail operations. This role will lead efforts to expand the scope of cost recovery across high-volume vendor categories and transition third-party review activities to an efficient, scalable in-house model. The position requires deep analytical capability, strong understanding of grocery retail operations, and the ability to collaborate across Finance, Merchandising, Procurement, Supply Chain, and AP.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate may be responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Execute collection efforts for debit balance suppliers by monitoring outstanding balances, following up with suppliers and internal business partners, and maintaining accurate documentation of collection activities to ensure timely resolution and recovery.
- Execute recovery efforts with post audit vendors and internal stakeholders working closely with our post audit firm.
- Track post audit recoveries and savings by category, vendor, and root cause. Prepare and run daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
- Partner with Merchandising and Procurement to align recovery strategies with vendor agreements and identify new cost recovery opportunities across all categories.
- Identify causes of recurring cost leakage and present findings, trends and performance metrics to make process improvement recommendations to leadership.
- Participate in financial systems testing to ensure systems are designed to the needs of the department.
- Maintain knowledge of department processes and monitor integrations and processes for accurate completion.
- Work independently to manage assigned responsibilities, exercise sound judgment and complete work accurately and timely while seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Perform accounting duties as needed and maintain position procedural documentation; and assist with the completion of special projects.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred or a minimum of 2+ years relevant experience.
