Responsible for risk management, quality assurance, policy and procedure management, and business administration activities for Real Estate Lending. Leads a team of professionals in the first line of defense, providing direction and guidance for aggregated oversight, and governance for all risk types in the core areas of Risk and Controls for assigned business, products, and platforms. This position serves as part of the assigned business unit’s leadership team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Partner with CSBB and Enterprise risk teams to execute against the strategic risk management goals and initiatives for the assigned business. Facilitate or participate in applicable Risk Working Groups and ensure escalation of necessary risk items for inclusion in Risk Committee. Facilitate activities with legal, risk, compliance, audit, regulators and other stakeholders. Ensure all businesses teams within the assigned business unit operate within Risk Appetite with adequate adherence and remediation to risk management policies and processes.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with the assigned business unit and risk teams regarding activities, trends, and events pertaining to Risk, Regulatory, Audit, Compliance and Loan Review activities; promoting an internal risk culture that encourages self-identification, promoting various risk initiatives and their supporting metrics for the assigned business unit. May lead state exam coordination, data aggregation, execution and meetings with key stakeholders. Facilitate ongoing relationships with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Regulatory Relations, and Audit partners across the Truist organization.
- Lead a team of risk management professionals within their assigned business unit that are responsible for executing on day-to-day risk management activities for the assigned business unit including, coordination of risk and control self-assessments, process mapping, risk and control identification, establishing and monitoring KRI’s, issues and events management, change risk assessments, SOX and Model/EUC support and adherence; IT, Third Party, Compliance Risk Program support activities, portfolio risk management and servicing support, credit administration and monitoring, quality control, and ongoing monitoring of key business processes. Provides leadership and direction on operational risk management best practices.
- Maintain comprehension of regulatory or governing body rules, business requirements, and applicability for the assigned business unit; provide training to business partners, maintain oversight of related documentation, and understand impact of planned system changes in relation to applicability. Partner with relevant stakeholders to share results, insights, and risk mitigation recommendations for use in product strategy roadmaps and technology solutions; ensures prioritization of issue remediation plans.
- Performs assessments to determine impacts from business unit and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and works with relevant teams to support successful implementation. Manage and ensure maintenance of the assigned business unit’s policies and procedures; identify opportunities to reduce risk through process change recommendations, automation of manual processes, or additional control points.
- Responsible for oversight of business administration duties such as records management, business continuity, emergency response and disaster recovery planning and coordination. May oversee other facility or teammate enablement related activities for assigned business unit or office locations.
- Develop talent and supervise the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of teammates to allow them to meet professional objectives, foster career growth and to ensure job satisfaction. - Serve as a strategic thought leader in Real Estate Lending; proactively sharing risk and compliance strategies, influencing business process and technology design
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Risk field or equivalent education and related training or experience 15+ years of risk management experience in the banking or financial services industry or related field
- Minimum of 10+ years of Real Estate Lending (mortgage / HELOC) experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or MBA with a Business, Financial or Risk focus Broad risk and regulatory knowledge with an emphasis on: Credit, Market, Liquidity, Compliance, Operational, Reputation and Strategic Risks Strong leadership, consulting, and communication skills, including the ability to lead direct and indirect reports and influence all levels within the organization Ability to think critically and strategically and drive change; capability of successfully managing multiple projects concurrently Strong quantitative, governance, and analytical abilities Excellent negotiation skills and highly collaborative planning ability, excellent diplomacy, tact, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to provide effective challenge to senior management Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products ORM Certificate, PRM designation, or CRCM designation
