Description
Overview
The Personal Care Assistant is primarily responsible for observing patients and providing assistance in personal care.
Responsibilities
- Observes assigned patient(s); serves in the capacity of a sitter for assigned patient(s) during specific shift.
- Assists with basic personal care services as appropriate and as assigned.
- Assists assigned patient(s) in toileting.
- Observes for and reports safety hazards, and prepares incident reports.
- Participates in team conferences, in-service education programs, and staff meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Training
• Successful completion of all State, Federal, ARH, or accreditation mandated training programs as they become available.
Experience
• Two (2) weeks to one (1) month of on-the-job training is required to attain proficiency in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Ability to successfully complete required regulatory, accreditation, and organizational training programs.
• Ability to learn and apply departmental policies, procedures, and job responsibilities within the required training period.
• Ability to maintain compliance with State, Federal, ARH, and accreditation standards.
• Ability to perform assigned duties accurately and efficiently after completion of training.
