Job Description:
Role Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Representative is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of health insurance claims with various insurance companies. This role reports to the A/R Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Keep current on carrier(s) website information that relates to the practice.
- Process insurance carrier correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- Compose and prepare documentation for appeals.
- Use resources effectively, arrange information and files in a useful manner, and meet project deadlines.
- Prepare special claim projects; maintain project work/communication logs.
- Identify non-payment trends or procedural roadblocks and report to Supervisor as needed.
- Maintain a solid balance of health insurance claims that are 35 average days outstanding.
- Research authorizations, work with providers, and manage pended claims promptly.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
Required or Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of Medical Billing and insurance claim filing experience.
- Ambulatory Surgical/Procedures/Urology experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing software.
Essential Competencies:
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
- Attention to detail, willingness to learn, and bring forth ideas.
- Ability to multi-task, effectively problem-solve, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient computer software and database skills, especially with Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective healthcare team member.
- Current knowledge of acceptable and appropriate clinical practice, quality assurance, and patient management and care.
- Proficient knowledge of Medical Terminology: ICD and CPT codes.
- Attendance is an essential job function.
