Operations Manager

Looking to build your career with a growing company? Lumbermen’s is excited to open our temporary location in Warren, OH, as we begin expanding our presence to better serve customers throughout Western Pennsylvania. This Warren location will serve as our home base while we build our permanent facility in Youngstown, OH. Over the next year, we’ll be hiring and training new Employee Owners who will help us establish our team in Warren and prepare for the transition to our new Youngstown facility once construction is complete.

Travel: The Operations Manager will be required to travel to various Lumbermen's locations within their first 6 months to learn from our current distribution centers. They will learn how to receive, pull, and load James Hardie and other materials.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Manager will work in our Youngstown, OH location to help lead our warehouse team in working alongside our suppliers, customers, and sales team to deliver superior products in our building materials segment.  The primary responsibilities for this position include:

• Modeling and communicating Lumbermen’s mission, vision, and promise to all employee owners
• Providing overall leadership and direction for the Youngstown and Warren division
• Recruiting, hiring, training and developing an exceptional team
• Setting operational goals, tracking progress, and making necessary changes to meet those goals
• Managing, providing ongoing feedback to, and facilitating performance check ins for all Youngstown division employee owners
• Monitoring key operational performance measures such as: service quality, expense budgets, adherence to labor budgets, and other productivity measures
• Analyzing capital expenditures and preparing expenditure justifications
• Managing divisional P & L and working to improve efficiency and increase revenue
• Ensuring compliance with safety/OSHA/DOT regulations
• Overseeing fleet maintenance in conjunction with transportation team
• Drive and model Lumbermen’s Safety Program and initiatives to ensure employee owner safety
• Sourcing, coordinating, and facilitating building and ground maintenance, utility, and packaging supplies for the Youngstown and Warren Division
• Ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures
• Modeling and leading a culture of continuous improvement using lean principles and encouraging the sharing of ideas and suggestions
• Acting as a process improvement champion
• This position will start in Warren, OH and then move to our location in Youngstown, OH once the building has been built.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field or commensurate experience
• 5-7 years’ management experience
• Distribution or retail experience is strongly desired, building materials experience is beneficial
