Position: Senior Data Scientist

 

Job Location: 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089

 

Duties: Develop custom data models to drive innovative business solutions. Build complex data sets from multiple data sources, both internally and externally. Conduct advanced statistical analysis to determine trends and significant data relationships. Build learning systems to analyze and filter continuous data flows and offline data analysis. Train algorithms to apply models to new data sets. Validate models and algorithmic techniques. Scale new algorithms to large data sets. Combine data features to determine search models. Research new techniques and best practices within the industry. Utilize system tools including MySQL, Hadoop, Weka, R, and Matlab. Analyze large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive business solutions. Work on project teams to provide analytical support to projects for Walmart eCommerce. Build large data sets from multiple sources to build algorithms for predicting future data characteristics. Those algorithms will be tested, validated, and applied to large data sets. Train the algorithms so they can be applied to future data sets and provide the appropriate search results. Research new trends in the industry and utilizing up-to-date technology (for example, HBase, MapReduce) and analytical skills to support assigned projects. Work with cross-functional partners across the business. Develop models of current state to determine needed improvements.

 

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics or related field; OR Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics or related field.

 

Skills required: Experience using SQL and Python to query, clean, and analyze large-scale structured and unstructured data across cloud data warehouses and distributed systems (BigQuery and Hive on GCP) to drive product and user insights. Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing A/B experiments using statistical modeling and hypothesis testing. Experience evaluating product and user outcomes using statistical methodologies, including regression-based and quasi-experimental analyses (t-test, ANOVA, pre/post, and difference-in-differences). Experience developing and validating machine learning models in Python to predict user behavior and conversion propensity, including feature engineering and standard model evaluation practices. Experience automating and maintaining analytics datasets and data pipelines using SQL/Python to generate aggregate views and support Business Intelligence tools. Experience using data visualization tools, including Tableau, PowerBI, and Looker, to represent product and business metrics. Experience identifying key business metrics and design measurement plans for A/B experiments. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

 

Salary Range: $168,917/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
