We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney! 

This role sits in the Commerce Lodging organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with UI engineering, Quality Engineering, and Product teams from across the company. 

About The Role & Team: 

This role is the senior service layer engineer for the Lodging & Resort Sales commerce team, responsible for the APIs that power guest-facing resort booking, modifications, and cancellation experiences across Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The team supports multiple concurrent commerce programs and product areas (Disney Add-Ons, Online Modifications, Reservation Cancellation) with a mix of Cast and offshore vendor developers. 

What You'll Do: 

• Architect and implement Java/Spring Boot microservices for revenue-critical commerce flows — reservation booking, modifications, and cancellations across guest-facing experiences including Mods Hub, Disney Add-Ons, and Reservation Cancellation for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort 

• Own end-to-end API delivery from design through production deployment across multi-environment pipelines (Dev → Latest → Stage → Load → Production) 

• Collaborate with and guide a small team of offshore service developers — assigning work, reviewing code, making architectural decisions, and validating feature completeness 

• Design service-oriented architecture including DAO patterns, Feign client integrations, and downstream service connectors for Disney's proprietary commerce ecosystem 

• Manage AuthZ scope provisioning, Nimbus and Vault environment configuration, and Splunk and AppDynamics observability dashboards 

• Resolve P1/P2 production incidents across Consumer, Travel Agent, Cast, and TAAP booking, modifications, and cancellation flows 

• Partner with UI, QE, Product, and cross-functional teams to solution technical approaches and unblock delivery 

• Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications 

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies 

Required Qualifications: 

• Must have minimum 5 years of related work experience (Software Engineering) 

• Comfortable working in an Agile environment 

• Experience delivering across multiple concurrent workstreams with shared dependencies 

• Experience managing multi-environment deployment pipelines (development through production) including configuration management and environment-specific provisioning 

• Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot microservices, RESTful API design and implementation, service-oriented architecture patterns (DAO, Feign clients, service connectors), AWS cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines (Harness), with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging software engineering tools and methodologies 

• Proficiency in AI-assisted development tools (Amazon Q Developer, Kiro, GitHub Copilot, Claude) — must demonstrate creative application of AI to accelerate code generation, debugging, testing, and delivery velocity 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Commerce/e-commerce domain experience (reservations, pricing, order management) 

• Experience leading or directing offshore/vendor development resources 

• Familiarity with Disney's internal services ecosystem 

Required Education: 

• Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience 

Preferred Education: 

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field 

Additional Information:  

This is the sole senior software engineer (service focus) on the team, spanning multiple concurrent programs, product areas (Disney Add-Ons, Online Modifications, Reservation Cancellation), and ongoing sustainment. The role serves as the senior Cast service developer for offshore service developers and contributes to backend API architecture end-to-end — from design through production deployment across Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.  

The hiring range for this position in Orlando is $135,200.00- 164,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
