Job Description:

Your role?

A Pipeline TD is responsible for developing and maintaining software tools, providing front-line support to artists and general troubleshooting of the CG pipeline in a fast-paced, feature film visual effects production environment in order to ensure artist efficiency. Take daily task priorities from Show CG Supervisors while receiving technical guidance and career mentoring from the Pipeline TD Manager.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop, maintain, and document pipeline tools and scripts to meet immediate show demands while adhering to facility-wide standards.

  • Provide front-line support for artists, troubleshooting any issues that may arise in day-to-day production workflows; escalate more complex issues when necessary.

  • Test and validate software updates and technical workflows in production, partnering with Engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment of workflows and tools.

  • Collaborate effectively with artists, production supervisors and technical staff across global ILM studio locations on both show work and pipeline improvement projects.

  • Take direction from Show Supervisors and Leads to determine daily task priorities of basic to moderate complexity to meet show objectives while expanding knowledge of core pipeline systems.

To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining tools for use in computer graphics.

  • Proficiency in Python, bonus if within a Linux desktop environment.

  • Experience with one or more core DCCs (e.g. Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Katana) or asset frameworks like USD.

  • Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and translate technical issues for non-technical users.

  • Strong problem solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting.
