Baker's Bay Golf & Ocean Club is seeking a Racquets Manager to join the Sunset Park Department.
The Racquets Manager works within the OP department and with the OP manager to ensure that the highest level of service is offered to the members of Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club by providing members with personal, gracious, and professional service throughout Sunset Park (SSP).

Racquets Manager is responsible for racquet sports at Sunset Park and throughout the Club, wherever satellite racquet activities may be held, as well as for softball, bat, and paddle-related sports. Racquets Manager is also responsible for daily lessons in all areas, for Sunset Park as a whole, including family games and activities, and for supervising Sunset Park and the attendants designated to that area daily. This position delivers world-class service to members while ensuring that SOPs are followed for all Lessons and general activities in this area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote racquet sports and proactively find and encourage suitable people to play together, take lessons, and participate in tournaments
  • Responsible for all racquet sports-related requests, including instruction and coaching.
  • Liaise with the members daily regarding the scheduling of racquet sports lessons, sunset park activities, and appointments.
  • Organize tennis tournaments and clinics in coordination with the OP management for the members.
  • Encourage, develop, and promote tennis to Baker’s Bay staff, especially others within the OP team.
  • Order all racquet sports and sunset park-related products following the procedures of the company
  • Prepare all racquet sports-related areas on the Island to the required standard of detail, and maintain these standards throughout the day
  • Maintain and repair all tennis and sunset park equipment to the standard set by the company. This includes restringing rackets, basic court maintenance (regular brushing & roller), etc.
  • Ensure all tennis areas and sunset park equipment are clean and in good working order before and after use. This includes ensuring the towels and drinks are properly arranged, keeping the equipment storage tidy and accessible to guests, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the storage of the tennis and other Sunset Park equipment is tidy, presentable, and safe at all times.
  • Overall responsibility for Sunset Park as a whole, ensuring the area and its games and activities are run to the highest standard for members and their families.
  • Organize and run family games and activities within Sunset Park, encouraging member families to participate together.
  • Run weekly softball, bat, and paddle sport sessions and games for the membership.
  • Run complimentary sessions as part of the youth Camp Bakers program and as adult tasters.
  • Manage and run beach Volleyball, Beach tennis, and other games afternoons around the property, driving member interaction.
  • Notify the management of any equipment that is unsafe and needs replacement.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a 4-5 star resort setting or in the luxury-related field
  • Previous experience in the guest service industry
  • Must be First Aid certified
  • Certified tennis coach required; certification in other racquet sports (e.g., pickleball, padel) is a plus
  • Padel qualification preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be a strong swimmer
  • Good judgment and decision making

  • Experience in hospitality is required
  • Committed to taking care of all members’ and guests’ needs
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • High level of attention to detail

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Activities

  • Run and attend staff daily briefings
  • Implement and maintain the policies and procedures for Outdoor Pursuits which reflects the highest standard of operation and member service
  • Store all OP and activity equipment in its correct location.
  • Touch base and maintain enthusiasm with members daily, encouraging activities and putting into place all necessary preparations for lessons to provide world-class service and instruction.
  • Oversee and supervise Sunset Park and its attendants, training attendants daily in Sunset Park activities and tennis/pickleball, softball, bat and paddle sports & other games.
  • Always ensure member and staff safety. Refer any requests regarded as unsafe or any guests refusing to cooperate on safety issues to management.
  • Coordinate orders to ensure necessary parts are obtained following standard PO procedure, as well as following set budget guidelines to enhance and maintain a world-class facility.
  • Ensure all monthly safety checks are carried out & followed up, and logged on the maintenance system.
  • Ensure correct presentation of the OP department areas, ensuring that it is clean, organized, and professional. Make sure that all equipment is secured at the end of each day.
  • Assist in other OP services as required.
  • Provide and schedule diverse and engaging activities for members and guests of all ages and abilities in various sports.
  • Instruct staff and third-party vendors to provide the utmost care for the safety and security of members, guests, and prospects when involved in water and sports-related activities.
