Job Description
What is the opportunity?
Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of complex, multi platform application software solutions, applying advanced expertise and knowledge to deliver innovative and strategic business outcomes. Lead software development projects of significant complexity, applying advanced expertise and knowledge to deliver impactful results.
What will you do?
Technical Delivery
Build and own event-driven microservices in .NET (C#) connected through Apache Kafka — scalable, high throughput, fault-tolerant, observable
Design cloud-native solutions on OCP, AWS — infrastructure as code, containerized workloads, automated from commit to production
Craft React.js front ends that are fast, accessible, and a pleasure to work in
Own the Salesforce integration layer — Platform Events, REST/SOAP APIs, Connected Apps — bridging our cloud platform with Salesforce FSC
Dip into Apex and LWC when cross-platform features need it — build RBC branded components.
Review code with intent — architectural feedback, not just syntax
Contribute to platform modernization — technical debt reduction, shared standards, observability, DevSecOps
Follow RBC IT Compliance and Risk frameworks and derisk initiatives.
Platform Modernization
Lead adoption of GenAI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Agentforce, Devin) across the team
Drive technical debt reduction and platform health initiatives, adopt best practices
Lead PoC and new technology innovation work to modernize platform
Evaluate emerging Salesforce, standard stack capabilities for team adoption
Contribute to the Centre of Excellence (COE) — health checks, standards, shared frameworks
Assist with scoping and planning of various CRM related projects and initiatives
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
8+ years building production software you're proud of
Fluent in .NET (C#) — you know when to use async, when not to, and why it matters
Hands-on with Kafka — you've built event-driven systems and dealt with what happens when they go wrong
Comfortable on Azure or AWS — you can write IaC, design for resilience, and own your deployments
Strong CI/CD instincts — automated pipelines, release governance, zero-touch deployments
React.js — hooks, state management, API integration, you've been here before
Salesforce exposure — APIs, Platform Events, enough Apex/LWC to collaborate effectively
Security-minded — OAuth 2.0, secrets management, compliance not as an afterthought
Nice to have:
Salesforce FSC or Insurance domain experience
APIGEE or API gateway design
Observability tooling — Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog
GenAI-assisted development experience (GitHub Copilot, Agentforce, Devin)
