What is the opportunity?

RBCx Banking is an industry-leading full-service platform to accelerate the entrepreneurial journey at every stage of growth – providing access to capital solutions, innovative products and services, and operational expertise to help technology and life sciences companies scale. Simply put, members of our credit advisory team are advisors to the most exciting companies in Canada, who help entrepreneurs navigate the hardest pain points of scaling a business – from ideation to IPO and beyond.

Our Analyst Credit Advisory understands the challenges tech and life science start-up and scale-up companies face in Canada, and how RBCx can help leverage capital and non-capital solutions for such companies. They provide direct deal support to our VP’s and Associate Directors and work with the overall RBCx Banking team by supporting existing debt clients, performing research, and conducting related quantitative and qualitative analysis.  The Analyst will engage with clients, RBCx Relationship Management and Risk partners as they assist with the credit underwriting and structuring process.

This role will work from the in office 3 days a week.

What will you do?

  • Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting – Own monitoring of portfolio company results against budget and credit approval cases, assist with valuations, and prepare reports for internal stakeholders including Finance, Risk, and Operations.

  • Credit Advisory & Transaction Support – Support the Credit Advisory team with credit solutions, strategic advice, transaction structuring analysis, and the underwriting process; complete required documentation for transactions and annual renewals.

  • Business Analysis & Client Solutions – Provide quality business analysis and credit advice; demonstrate RBCx's capability to deliver creative financial solutions that meet or exceed client needs while supporting teamwork and collaboration.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, business, economics, STEM)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word and strong industry research analytical skills

  • Previous experience with financial modelling and investment valuation(nice to have)

  • Strong business and financial acumen and are analytical and articulate

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines

Nice-to-have

  • Specialized tech or life sciences industry expertise in a past role

  • Interest in start-ups and the VC ecosystem

  • Working towards or obtained CFA, CPA, CBV or other relevant professional designation
