As a Mental Health Clinician with VOA's new Integrated Behavioral Health Clinic (IBHC), you'll provide comprehensive, trauma-informed behavioral health services for individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use disorders.

Unlike many VOA positions that provide services in shelters, housing programs, and community-based settings, this role operates primarily within our new clinic environment, offering dedicated space for assessment, therapy, treatment planning, and integrated behavioral health care. While VOA is known for providing services "without clinical walls," this position represents an exciting expansion of our continuum of care by creating a clinic-based setting where participants can access coordinated treatment services in one location.

The clinic is being developed with a strong focus on co-occurring disorders, and most participants will present with both mental health and substance use treatment needs. We're looking for clinicians who are comfortable working with diagnostic complexity and who embrace integrated, whole-person care.

You'll work closely with Care Coordinators, Substance Use Disorder Professionals (SUDPs), Peer Support Specialists, Behavioral Health Specialists, and community partners to help participants improve behavioral health outcomes, increase stability, and support long-term recovery.

Productivity & Workload Expectations

We believe great clinical care requires time for collaboration, documentation, care coordination, and professional development, not just time spent in sessions.

As a full-time clinician, you will be paid for 40 hours per week, with an anticipated billable expectation of approximately 20-25 hours per week. The remainder of your work time is intentionally dedicated to essential non-billable activities, including:

Clinical Services

• Conduct behavioral health assessments and diagnostic evaluations
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable treatment goals
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy
• Deliver evidence-based interventions including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, ACT, Behavioral Activation, DBT-informed treatment, and EMDR when appropriate
• Monitor participant progress and adjust treatment approaches as needed
• Respond to behavioral health crises and complete risk assessments
• Develop safety plans and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary

Essential non-billable activities: 

• Treatment planning and clinical documentation
• Care coordination and interdisciplinary team meetings
• Clinical consultation and case reviews
• Crisis response and follow-up
• Collaboration with SUDPs, Care Coordinators, and Peer Support Specialists
• Training, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives

We recognize that quality integrated care extends beyond direct service hours. This role is designed to support sustainable clinical practice, allowing clinicians to focus on providing excellent care while remaining engaged in the broader treatment team and participant recovery process.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• Active Washington State LMHC or LICSW license
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience after obtaining full licensure
• Must meet Washington State Mental Health Professional requirements
• Experience working with diverse populations and individuals impacted by poverty, homelessness, mental illness, or substance use disorders
• Ability to pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background Check
• Experience utilizing electronic health records or client databases

Preferred

• Two or more years of outpatient behavioral health experience
• Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Experience working with youth, young adults, or unhoused populations
• Experience in integrated behavioral health settings
• Knowledge of Medicaid documentation requirements

Schedule

Full-Time | Monday-Friday |40 hours per week, with an anticipated billable expectation of approximately 20-25 hours  

Typical work hours occur between:

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
