[What the role is]
You will contribute to NAC’s mission to champion the creation and appreciation of the arts as an integral part of the lives of people in Singapore. The purpose of this role is to formulate strategies, administer NAC’s support schemes/resources and develop/implement initiatives to create a strong ecosystem of companies, practitioners and intermediaries, in alignment with OurSG Arts Plan.You will be involved in the development of the Performing Arts landscape in Singapore, with a focus on dance and traditional arts sectors. You will support the growth and development of performing arts (dance and/or traditional arts) professionals and organisations to create quality work and programmes, engage new audiences locally and internationally, and support their continued professional development.
[What you will be working on]
Administer NAC’s grant schemes and manage recipient relationships:
Assess grant applications to provide robust recommendations that are aligned with the grant schemes’ criteria, funding guidelines, and NAC’s strategic priorities.
Review grant applications to detect inconsistencies/fraud and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Communicate with grant recipients to ensure clear understanding of requirements and successful grant outcomes.
Complete grants closing processes to verify deliverable achievements and compliance.
Provide feedback and recommendations to grants coordinator to inform policy and process improvements.Assess grant applications to provide robust recommendations that are aligned with the grant schemes’ criteria, funding guidelines, and NAC’s strategic priorities.
Develop strategies and implement strategic development programmes
and activities for Dance & Traditional Arts sectors to achieve desired outcomes for the sector in support of Our SG Arts Plan:
Implement research and documentation efforts for traditional art forms to allow preservation of knowledge and transmission of art forms to the next generation of artists and audiences.
Review and track local and international trends and developments for the design of support levers.
Manage, facilitate and support capability development support levers and projects (including residencies, training, mentorships, grants) for the growth of high-potential artists and organisations.
Cultivate and manage stakeholders. Develop partnerships
and collaborations with local and international cultural leaders and
organisations to support the development of the Dance & Traditional Arts sectors:
Conduct regular meetings and check-ins with primary stakeholders including arts groups, artists, KOLs, etc. This includes attending performances regularly and engaging with arts and arts groups at networking sessions.
Stay up-to-date on the developments and on-goings in the sector through traditional and social media, proactively manage stakeholders if issues arise.
Manage, facilitate and support partnerships and collaborations with key cultural institutions (e.g. SCCC, TECL), public ministries and agencies (e.g. STB, SportSG, NHB, MCCY) to synergise and maximise efforts in developing specific segments.
[What we are looking for]
Knowledge of a range of dance and/or traditional arts genres, including an understanding of the local and international dance and/or traditional arts sectors.
Prior working experience in the dance and/or traditional arts sectors, particularly in the management/administration of an arts organisation, would be an advantage.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong analytical skills and ability to adapt to changing contexts.
Track record of working with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills such as empathy, persuasion, and negotiation.
Meticulous and organised, with a process-oriented working style and adept at project management.
