With a long-standing track record in engineering excellence, the company continues to expand its operations and is seeking a skilled Supervisor to support ongoing and upcoming construction projects.

Job Summary:

The Site Supervisor will be responsible for the direct supervision of tradesmen, skilled workers, laborers, and site activities, ensuring that construction works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, instructions, quality requirements, and project schedules. The role will monitor workforce productivity, coordinate daily activities, ensure the availability of materials and equipment, and address minor site issues while escalating significant matters to the Site Engineer or Construction Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise tradesmen, skilled workers, laborers, and site workforce to ensure daily activities are completed efficiently.
  • Coordinate and assign daily tasks to workers based on the approved work programme and site priorities.
  • Ensure construction works are executed correctly and in accordance with drawings, specifications, method statements, and instructions from the Site Engineer or Construction Manager.
  • Monitor workforce productivity and identify issues affecting performance or progress.
  • Ensure sufficient manpower is available for planned activities and report manpower requirements to the Site Engineer/Construction Manager.
  • Conduct regular site checks to monitor workmanship, progress, and adherence to construction requirements.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and foremen to ensure smooth execution of daily site activities.
  • Check the availability and proper use of materials, tools, equipment, plant, and other site resources.
  • Report shortages, damaged materials, equipment issues, or resource requirements to the relevant site management.
  • Enforce all site safety rules, procedures, and HSE requirements among workers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure workers use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and immediately take appropriate corrective action or escalate as required.
  • Provide immediate practical solutions to minor site execution and operational issues.
  • Escalate technical, safety, quality, or major operational issues to the Site Engineer or Construction Manager.
  • Monitor housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Coordinate daily activities to minimize disruption and maintain efficient workflow between different trades.
  • Support the Site Engineer with progress information, workforce updates, and daily site observations.
  • Assist with inspections, measurements, snagging, and rectification works as required.
  • Maintain basic records of workforce attendance, daily activities, productivity, materials, and site issues.

Requirements:

  • 10–20 years of experience in construction site supervision, preferably within building construction.
  • Extensive hands-on experience supervising tradesmen, skilled workers, laborers, and subcontractor teams.
  • Proven experience working on building construction projects in a site-based supervisory capacity.
  • Strong practical knowledge of construction activities, sequencing, materials, tools, and site practices.
  • Ability to understand and work from construction drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
  • Strong workforce coordination and productivity management skills.
  • Good understanding of construction safety procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Experience monitoring material, equipment, and manpower requirements on-site.
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve minor site issues quickly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with workers, foremen, subcontractors, Site Engineers, and Construction Managers.
  • Strong discipline, reliability, attention to detail, and ability to maintain site standards.
  • Experience working on construction projects in Nigeria or other African markets would be an advantage.
  • Technical diploma, vocational qualification, or relevant construction trade background is preferred.
