Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Optical Metrology Systems
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Hardware Development team.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of next-generation precision Optical Metrology systems used in the semiconductor industry. Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will be responsible for the characterization, design, and integration of highly complex systems requiring exceptional mechanical performance, stability, and accuracy.
You will lead mechanical development activities throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept definition and feasibility studies through detailed design, prototyping, system integration, verification, and product release.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design activities, including requirements definition, concept development, trade-off analyses, detailed design, engineering drawings, design reviews, and technical presentations.
- Develop and integrate innovative solutions involving precision motion systems, opto-mechanical assemblies, pneumatic systems, vibration isolation, thermal management, clean-air flow control, and electronic packaging.
- Perform engineering analyses, including tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, and requirements flow-down and verification.
- Execute and interpret finite element analyses (FEA), including structural, modal, thermal, and flow simulations.
- Support prototype procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including optics, systems engineering, electronics, software, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- Investigate field and manufacturing issues, drive root-cause analysis, and support corrective actions to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Provide technical support for customer escalations, manufacturing activities, and on-site system investigations when required.
What You'll Work On
- Precision mechanisms and motion systems
- Opto-mechanical assemblies
- Vibration isolation solutions
- Thermal and cooling systems
- Clean-air flow and contamination-sensitive designs
- Semiconductor metrology platforms requiring nanometer-level stability and performance
Join us and help shape the next generation of semiconductor metrology technology while working on some of the industry's most challenging engineering problems.
Minimum Qualifications
