Architect

About the position

We’re looking for an Architect to help us design, build, and refine our global offices. Based in our New York headquarters, you will work with colleagues across three continents to design spaces that support how Jane Street works.

You’ll work closely with external architects and consultants to shape projects from early design through construction. You’ll set design priorities, review concepts and drawings, and explore alternatives with the project team to make sure the spaces we build meet our needs.

Internally, you will take ownership of projects and workstreams from early planning through design, procurement, construction, closeout, and post-occupancy. This will require collaborating closely with colleagues to turn competing requirements into practical recommendations that balance design quality, budget, schedule, constructability, resilience, and long-term operating and maintenance needs.

Additional responsibilities of this role will include:

• Establishing project briefs, design priorities, scopes, budgets, schedules, and decision processes with colleagues
• Developing initial test fits and reviewing and redlining consultant concepts, layouts, drawings, specifications, and details
• Coordinating internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure recommendations work across disciplines and reflect Jane Street’s priorities
• Managing specialist partners, including furniture vendors, food service consultants, permitting consultants, artists, fabricators, and workplace strategists
• Translating input from users, consultants, vendors, and internal teams into practical recommendations that balance design concept and user experience with constructability, schedule, budget, and long-term flexibility
• Working with creative colleagues and specialist partners on materials, finishes, furniture, wayfinding, and installations
• Overseeing construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, mockups, field observations, change proposals, punch lists, and closeout
• Tracking decisions and risks, resolving open issues, and applying lessons from completed projects to future designs, standards, and ways of working

About you

• Have 7+ years of experience in workplace architecture and project delivery, with strong design and technical skills, including interior detailing and a working knowledge of building codes
• Have an instinct for designing spaces that feel like us: curious in their conception, rigorous in their logic, and thoughtful in every detail
• Comfortable taking responsibility for projects and workstreams, managing competing priorities, and coordinating work across regions
• Able to delegate work to consultants and hold them accountable without taking over their responsibilities
• Can synthesize design, technical, financial, and operational input into practical recommendations, identifying solutions rather than simply documenting problems
• Can make sound decisions with incomplete or changing information and maintain credible contingency plans
• Can communicate clearly with designers, contractors, and colleagues, seek out others’ expertise, and challenge requirements constructively
• Curious about new tools, including AI, and how they can streamline workflows and improve project quality
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD, and Excel is preferred
• Architectural licensure is preferred
