Atlanta Women’s Healthcare Specialists is seeking an experienced Mammography Technologist to join our Imaging Department. The Mammographer performs screening and diagnostic breast imaging examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease.
This role is responsible for operating mammographic imaging equipment, providing compassionate and professional patient care, maintaining imaging quality and safety standards, and supporting efficient patient flow. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional service to patients and providers.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
- Review patient charts and previous imaging studies to prepare for examinations.
- Explain procedures, answer patient questions, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Identify the need for additional imaging or follow-up and promptly communicate abnormal findings to the ordering physician.
- Provide physicians with appropriate technical information and documentation to support diagnosis.
- Ensure accurate charge entry, medical necessity documentation, and maintenance of patient records.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked examination rooms.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventative maintenance as needed.
- Maintain compliance with imaging protocols, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
- Support efficient scheduling, patient flow, and imaging resource utilization.
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to provide exceptional patient care and service.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of mammography techniques, medical terminology, and patient safety standards.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining mammography equipment.
- Ability to navigate EMR systems; Centricity experience preferred.
- Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow established protocols and adapt to changing departmental needs.
Education and Experience
- Current ARRT certification in Mammography (M).
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of two years of mammography experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to alternate between sitting and standing throughout the workday.
- Ability to operate imaging equipment and perform examinations requiring manual dexterity and a full range of motion.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and assist patients with positioning as needed.
