At Adorama, we don’t just support creativity—we live it. Join a team that’s shaping the future of how the world captures, creates and connects.

Our Leadership Principles

Growth Mindset: We set high standards, embrace failure, and are open to change.

  • Be Customer-Centered: We focus on the end-to-end customer experience.
  • Take Ownership & Dig Deeper: We are proactive, use data, and avoid shortcuts.
  • Think Like a Start-Up: We move fast, stay flexible, and celebrate every win.
  • Be Humble & Respectful: We assume positive intent, listen actively, and support one another.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Director of Marketplace Operations & Growth to lead our entire Marketplace organization across multiple brands - the team responsible for how we sell, list, and grow across every marketplace channel we operate on, and for scaling that
footprint to new marketplaces as we grow. Today, this function is split across three groups:

  • A Technical Marketplace Manager who runs day-to-day operations — marketplace relationships, technical integrations, and posting/listing rates.
  • A Business Manager, with 2 direct reports, who drives sales growth — ad spend, kitting, and value-add merchandising.
  • A team of 6 handling execution-level work — data entry, case management, and troubleshooting to keep SKUs live and compliant.

This role sits above all three groups. You will own the big picture: setting marketplace strategy, holding every team accountable to clear metrics, unblocking technical issues that stall the team, and identifying where to invest next to drive growth. You are equally
comfortable in a strategy meeting about which new marketplace to launch on and in a technical conversation about why a feed is failing to sync.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth

  • Set and execute the yearly budget for Revenue & Net Profit across all marketplaces and brands.
  • Define where it makes sense to invest more within each marketplace, and which new marketplaces to launch on.
  • Set net profit targets and shipping rules to drive both sales and netprofit.
  • Identify and evaluate new growth opportunities across marketplaces, categories, and SKUs.
  • Build the business case (with data) for every major investment decision — this role is highly analytical, not just directional.

Team Leadership & Accountability

  • Manage and hold accountable the Technical Marketplace Manager, the Business Manager, and (directly or indirectly) the operations/data entry team.
  • Set clear goals, KPIs, and SLAs for each function and review performance regularly.
  • Resolve cross-team bottlenecks — e.g., when a technical issue is blocking a sales initiative, or when operations capacity is limiting SKU growth.
  • Be the escalation point when a team hits a dead end — diagnose root cause and decide the path forward.

Marketplace Relationships & Compliance

  • Oversee marketplace relationship management and high-level negotiations (rates, terms, program access).
  • Ensure all marketplaces maintain healthy account health/ratings and that SLAs are consistently met.
  • Ensure the team stays current on and compliant with each marketplace’s specific listing rules and requirements.

Technical Oversight

  • Work with the Technical Marketplace Manager on integration issues, channel engine configuration, and feed/posting problems at a strategic level — you don’t need to write the fix yourself, but you need enough technical fluency to diagnose issues, ask the right questions, and evaluate whether the team’s proposed solution is sound.
  • Ensure integrations scale as new marketplaces and SKU volume are added.

Sales & Catalog Growth

  • Drive initiatives to maximize the number of SKUs live and sellable across all marketplaces.
  • Oversee ad spend strategy and effectiveness (executed by the Business Manager’s team).
  • Oversee kitting and value-add merchandising strategy to increase margin and sell-through.
  • Ensure shipping method rules and existing internal policies (NP rules) are followed and continually refined.

Private Brands

  • Drive growth of our private brand portfolio — both deepening presence in existing categories and expanding into new ones.
  • Identify white space and opportunity for new private brand products/lines based on marketplace and category performance data.
  • Ensure private brand SKUs get the same rigor on listing quality, compliance, and sell-through as the rest of the catalog.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Merchandising on category strategy, private brand expansion, and product assortment decisions.
  • Partner with Customer Service to ensure marketplace policies, returns, and SLAs support a strong customer experience.
  • Partner with IT on integrations, channel engine capabilities, and technical roadmap to support marketplace growth.
  • Responsibilities may evolve over time; employees may be asked to take on additional duties as needed to support business priorities.

What Will Help You Thrive

  • Proven leadership experience managing managers and cross functional teams, ideally within eCommerce, marketplace
    operations, or retail.
  • Strong analytical skills — comfortable using data to justify where to invest, spot underperformance, and prioritize competing initiatives.
  • Working technical fluency — you don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be able to understand integration/API/feed issues well enough to work productively with a technical team and know when something doesn’t add up.
  • Growth mindset — a track record of identifying and acting on new opportunities, not just maintaining existing operations.
  • Operational rigor — experience setting KPIs/SLAs and holding teams accountable to them.
  • Marketplace experience strongly preferred — hands-on familiarity with platforms like Amazon Seller, Walmart Marketplace, eBay, or similar, along with channel/feed management tools.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts — able to get to root cause when something stalls, rather than staying stuck at “it’s broken.”
  • Background in both the technical/operations side and the sales/growth side of eCommerce.

This role requires three on-site days weekly to ensure in-person collaboration, improved communication, effective teamwork, and real-time problem solving to enhance team synergy and productivity. A standard 40 hour work week is expected.
