Responsibilities
Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Project Assistant II to work within the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP).
This position will introduce the Hourly Project Assistant II to the field of public health emergency preparedness through working with the CNY Region Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Representatives. The Hourly Project Assistant II will provide support to PHEP Representatives who review and update emergency preparedness plans, regional annual hazard vulnerability assessments, and other activities as identified by regional, state, and federal priorities. This role will assist in the compilation and review of After-Action Reports (AAR) to improve regional plans, as well as tracking of HEPC exercises and drills; assist to prepare correspondence between health emergency preparedness partners via shared email account, listservs, and Health Commerce System applications. The incumbent will also participate in special workgroups and committees to ensure CNY Region preparedness and response capabilities are included in the Department and Regional Office’s emergency planning and response efforts, including but not limited to the New York State Department of Health’s All Hazards Planning Workgroup and other workgroups as identified. The incumbent will provide assistance to analyze site-specific data for departmental presentations and reports; assist staff to create presentations, fact sheets, data tables using analyzed site-specific data and assist with other appropriate related duties, as needed.
This position is part of the Pathways to Public Health Internship Program and the purpose is to help strengthen career pathways to public health by bringing together students of all disciplines and academic levels with public health professionals to create a space of exploration, learning, and development. This position will last approximately 10 weeks from 9/14/2026 to 11/27/2026.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in, or have completed, a degree, certificate, or training program in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience organizing, consolidating and preparing narrative and numerical information into clear, logical reports.
Experience analyzing written and published program material and draw conclusions concerning its impact.
Experience using computer software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Experience developing presentational materials and communicating information through presentations, trainings, or meeting environments.
Conditions of Employment
Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 11/27/2026. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Travel up to 10% of the time will be required.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
This position is fully onsite and does not allow telecommuting.

Work Location Expectations
