Tasks and Qualifications:
The Senior Director of Business Solutions Operations and Project Controlling holds a pivotal position within both the Finance and EMEA Operations Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the VP Finance & CFO EMEA, this role serves as a trusted business partner to the SVP Operations EMEA, collaborating closely to accomplish Dematic's organizational objectives.
The Senior Director will lead a dispersed team across multiple European locations and will assume a critical strategic role, overseeing Operations financial management across the EMEA region. Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities within EMEA Business Solutions Operations. This encompasses direct accountability for key areas such as project controlling, budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, functional cost controlling, risk controlling and new business pipeline analysis.
Furthermore, this role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to the Company's leadership team.
Reporting directly to the EMEA CFO, the position will have the following responsibilities:
P&L Ownership
- Assume accountability for financial controlling, reporting, and performance of Dematic EMEA BS Operations from Revenue through Gross Profit.
- Provide leadership in developing short and long-term strategic financial objectives for Operations.
- Conduct timely and accurate analysis of actual performance, budgets, financial trends, and forecasts and identifying and presenting key information/actions/takeaways from complex information to a diverse audience.
- Collaborate with senior executives of Dematic Group to enhance performance and shape the execution of business strategies.
Project and financial Controlling
- Ensure projects are delivered within specified timeframes, budgets, and planned profitability levels.
- Oversee the planning of new business for EMEA, including monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting, ensuring alignment across regions and consolidating reports.
- Govern project delivery and provide financial oversight, analysis, and identify cost-saving opportunities to enhance project performance.
- Support workload and capacity analysis, as well as competency assignment to projects based on monthly forecasts, while providing guidance on resource optimization.
Risk Controlling
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
- Identify and assess risks across all business units and monitor the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to establish risk appetite and tolerance levels.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk controls and recommend enhancements as needed.
Process standardization and excellence
- Drive and harmonize local controllers' ways of working and processes in managing costs, forecasting, reporting, and budgeting for Operations EMEA.
- Continually monitor business and operations performance, identifying variances and providing management insight into trends, issues, opportunities for improvement, and implementation of predictive analytics.
- Establish a streamlined process for quality, accuracy, and access to harmonized data across EMEA, as well as between global and regional functions.
Executive business partner
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives and EMEA leaders, understanding their needs and offering a comprehensive range of business solutions.
- Advise Operations Executive management on the financial implications of business projects and initiatives, recommending strategies to enhance financial performance and seize business opportunities.
- Actively partner with Global DEMATIC finance team regarding all EMEA operational finance topics and present project results, performance and risk positions of key regional projects to KION executives
Requirements:
- Over 10 years of directly applicable work experience in a complex, high-tech business with a global workforce.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or Business; Master's Degree preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence others outside and across the organizational structure, including Dematic Group executive leadership, to build meaningful relationships and drive for results across functional lines.
- Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills for budgeting and forecasting combined with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership and executive experience for an international organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage effectively at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations.
- Ability to lead a remote team across EMEA countries at multiple locations to foster collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor resources to cultivate an inclusive and diverse environment.
- Strong problem-solving and creative skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Strong proficiency in English.
- Experience working with SAP or a similar ERP system.
