About the Role

This position is responsible for the strategic planning and management of the company's human resources and workforce development functions. The incumbent will ensure that HR policies, procedures and initiatives are effectively translated into actionable plans, processes, and departmental procedures that support business objectives.

The role is accountable for managing and coordinating the Human Resources Business Partner function to meet the current and future needs of the business. Working closely with leadership, the incumbent will align and execute the HR strategy for the business in support of the broader South Africa HR strategy, ensuring that people-related initiatives contribute to the achievement of operational and organizational goals.

The incumbent will lead and collaborate with an HR Business Partner and a team of HR Advisors who provide dedicated support to the operation, fostering a high-performance culture and delivering effective HR solutions across the business.
 

This role is accountable for:

  • Provide coaching and advice to management on a variety of employee issues regarding personnel practices and employment law.
  • Challenge the organizational structure of the internal client and propose changes.
  • Works within corporate strategies and policy frameworks to design and implement human resources strategies.
  • Develop guidelines and procedures which assist line management in implementing human resources programs.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s practices with applicable labour legislation and collective labour agreements.
  • Manage and motivate subordinate staff; reviews and assesses performance, builds employee capacity.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Secure professional legal support from internal or external legal counsel as required.
 

About You

  • Degree in Human Resources Management or related field (Mandatory)
  • Honours Degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management (NQF Level 8) (Advantageous).
  • 8-10 years' progressive HR experience, including HR Generalist and HR Business Partner roles within an operational environment, preferably in the Mining or related industry (Mandatory).
  • Minimum 3 years' people leadership experience (Mandatory).
  • Knowledge of Safety Risk Management principles and practices would be advantageous.
  • Proven track record in implementing impactful HR and workplace programmes, including employee relations, employment equity, talent management, organizational effectiveness and development, and employee engagement.
  • Proven experience working successfully with unions and managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Proven experience in leading and executing HR projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in managing HR processes and data.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, SuccessFactors, and HRIS systems.
