Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role

As a Recovery Navigator within Reach Drug & Alcohol Services in West Dorset, you will play a key role in supporting individuals to make positive behavioural changes, reduce the risks associated with drug and alcohol use, and move towards sustained recovery.

You will manage a caseload of service users, providing tailored support, signposting to appropriate services, and working collaboratively with partner agencies. This is a meaningful opportunity to improve health outcomes and support individuals throughout their recovery journey in a community-focused environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a caseload of service users, developing, implementing, and reviewing ongoing recovery and treatment plans
  • Deliver structured one-to-one support and harm minimisation advice
  • Carry out assessments, recovery planning, and risk management plans
  • Facilitate and run group sessions within the service and wider community
  • Empower service users to set and safely achieve their recovery goals
  • Build strong relationships with GPs, healthcare professionals, social care networks, family members, and significant others
  • Support access to additional services beyond appointments through community partnerships
  • Engage and support volunteers and peer support workers
  • Apply interventions such as Brief Interventions, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychosocial Interventions (PSIs), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and ITEP
  • Work across a range of needs including: Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST), alcohol use, non-opiate substance use, and combined alcohol and non-opiate needs

To Succeed in This Role, You Will Need

Essential

  • A strong passion for supporting individuals through recovery
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with service users and stakeholders
  • Experience delivering person-centred or tailored interventions
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • A community-focused and inclusive approach to practice

Desirable

  • Experience working within substance misuse services or similar roles
  • Knowledge of harm reduction approaches and recovery models
  • Experience facilitating group sessions or workshops
