Description

Safety Director / Safety Leader

Location: Texas — Multi-Location Responsibility
Industry: Demolition / Construction / Trucking / Industrial Services
Position Type: Full-Time | Senior Leadership

About the Opportunity

A well-established, growing, multi-location company operating across demolition, construction, trucking, and related high-risk industries is seeking a Safety Director / Senior Safety Leader to build and lead its safety function.

The company has experienced significant growth over the past 11 years, and leadership has identified the development of a comprehensive, best-in-class safety organization as a major priority. This is a newly elevated leadership opportunity for an experienced safety professional who can establish the structure, culture, processes, and team needed to support the company's continued growth.

The organization is looking for a hands-on safety leader who can assess the current environment, establish a clear vision, build a team, and ultimately take ownership of the company's safety strategy.

The Role

The Safety Director will report directly to senior company leadership and will have significant autonomy to develop and execute the company's safety program.

The initial safety organization includes two existing Safety Managers, with plans to add additional safety professionals across multiple operating divisions and locations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and develop the company's overall safety function.

  • Establish the organizational structure, standards, processes, and expectations necessary to build a world-class safety program.

  • Lead and mentor existing Safety Managers while recruiting and developing additional safety personnel.

  • Build a cohesive safety team supporting multiple operating divisions and locations.

  • Partner with company leadership to establish safety priorities and translate those priorities into execution.

  • Manage and leverage outside safety resources and consultants.

  • Establish consistent safety practices across demolition, construction, trucking, labor, and related operations.

  • Drive accountability and a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

  • Identify gaps in existing safety practices and develop practical solutions.

  • Develop systems and processes that can scale alongside the company's continued growth.

  • Serve as the senior safety authority and internal resource for operational leadership.

Team & Organizational Scope

The current safety organization consists of two Safety Managers, with additional positions expected to be added immediately across several divisions and markets.

The initial organization is expected to grow to approximately five safety professionals, including the Safety Director, with the potential to expand significantly as the company continues to grow.

This leader will have the opportunity to build the organization rather than simply inherit it.

Ideal Candidate

The company is looking for a proven safety leader with the leadership ability and experience to take ownership of a developing safety organization.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Significant experience in safety leadership within construction, demolition, industrial, trucking, or another high-risk environment.

  • Demonstrated experience building, developing, and leading safety teams.

  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.

  • The ability to operate independently and translate executive direction into an actionable safety strategy.

  • Experience establishing safety processes, standards, training, and accountability systems.

  • The credibility to work effectively with field personnel, superintendents, managers, and executive leadership.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A practical, field-oriented approach to safety rather than a purely administrative mindset.

Demolition experience is not required. The company is more interested in the depth of a candidate's safety leadership experience and their ability to build an effective safety organization.

A senior construction superintendent or operations professional with a strong safety background and the ability to transition into a dedicated safety leadership role may also be considered.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build something significant.

The company has recognized that its safety infrastructure has not kept pace with its growth and is making a deliberate investment in changing that. The person stepping into this role will have the authority and opportunity to help define what the company's safety organization becomes.

You will not be stepping into an established department with a predetermined playbook. You will be responsible for helping create the playbook, building the team around it, and establishing the safety culture for the next stage of the company's growth.

Key Priorities

The immediate priorities for this leader will include:

  1. Assess the current safety organization and identify critical gaps.

  2. Establish a clear company-wide safety strategy.

  3. Develop and strengthen the existing Safety Manager team.

  4. Recruit additional safety professionals where needed.

  5. Establish consistent safety expectations across locations and divisions.

  6. Develop scalable systems, processes, and accountability measures.

  7. Partner closely with operational leadership to make safety an integral part of the business.

  8. Build a safety organization capable of supporting significant continued growth.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to: Senior Company Leadership

The successful candidate will receive the company's overall vision and objectives from executive leadership and will be trusted to independently develop and execute the strategy necessary to achieve them.

Why Now?

The company has identified safety as a major organizational priority and is actively investing in building the infrastructure necessary to support its continued growth.

This position represents a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced safety professional who wants the autonomy and responsibility to shape an organization's safety function from the ground up.
