Looking for your next challenge within Maersk?

Are you experienced in inland transport operations and ready to take greater ownership while supporting the development of others?

We are looking for a Senior Transport Coordinator to join our Inland Delivery team supporting cross-border operations across Germany and Switzerland.

This is a senior, hands-on position combining road, rail and intermodal transport planning with vendor management, customer service, performance analysis and continuous improvement. Alongside managing daily operations, you will act as a mentor to less-experienced colleagues and provide backup support to the team leader when required.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and monitor cross-border road, rail and intermodal transport operations.
  • Identify the most effective transport corridors and solutions according to operational and customer requirements.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely execution of customer orders.
  • Proactively monitor shipments and resolve delays, capacity constraints and operational disruptions.
  • Maintain effective relationships with carriers, inland terminals, depots and other transport partners.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure agreed service levels are achieved.
  • Track and report operational KPIs, including on-time delivery, transportation costs and shipment volumes.
  • Analyse performance data and develop action plans to improve operational execution.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise processes, reduce costs and improve the customer experience.
  • Communicate proactively with customers and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide daily guidance and support to colleagues across Delivery, Customer Experience and related functions.
  • Mentor junior transport coordinators and support their professional development.
  • Conduct onboarding and training for new team members and colleagues from other departments.
  • Participate in wider Maersk projects and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Share operational knowledge, market insights and best practices with the wider team.
  • Act as a backup for the team leader or manager when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Maersk policies, procedures and operational standards.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an internal Maersk colleague who is ready to take the next step and contribute both operational expertise and team support.

You should have:

  • At least five years of experience in road, rail or intermodal transport operations.
  • Strong knowledge of inland transportation and cross-border logistics.
  • Experience coordinating carriers, terminals, depots and other operational partners.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience monitoring operational performance, costs and transportation KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A proactive, practical and customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving operational environment.
  • An interest in mentoring, training and supporting colleagues.
  • Good knowledge of Maersk operational tools, systems and processes.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Dutch language skills are strongly preferred.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to Maersk’s values and ways of working.

What this opportunity offers

This position provides an opportunity to broaden your operational scope, develop your leadership capabilities and increase your exposure to cross-border transport operations and stakeholder management.

You will be able to influence how the team works, contribute to operational improvements and support the development of colleagues while continuing to build your career within Maersk.

If you do not meet every requirement but believe your Maersk experience and operational knowledge would bring value to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
