Description
Reporting to the Vice President of Product, the Packaging Developer partners with internal and external stakeholders to develop and improve packaging for Ergodyne products on time and in accordance with approved requirements. This role manages packaging development projects from concept through production readiness within the company’s new product development phase-gate process.
Daily activities include translating requirements into time-bound development plans, developing die-lines and specifications, and managing technical development with factory partners. The Packaging Developer collaborates with Compliance and Marketing Creative on content and graphic layout, coordinates sample creation and reviews, and ensures packaging meets performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability objectives. Applying knowledge of packaging development processes, manufacturing methods, materials, and emerging technologies, this role supports successful product commercialization and continuous improvement in development practices.
Occasional travel, primarily international, is required. This position works in the office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
You have already accomplished (required):
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical discipline
- 3-5+ years’ packaging development experience
- Familiarity with relevant packaging manufacturing methods, materials, and standards
- Familiarity with phase gate product development processes and timeline management
- Proficiency using common design software (ArtiosCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc)
- Proficiency using MS Office systems (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Key Job Duties
- Manage assigned packaging development projects from concept through production readiness in alignment with requirements as outlined in the Product Scope Document
- Design structural packaging solutions, create dielines and specifications, collaborate on content and graphic layout, review digital proofs and physical samples for accuracy and consistency across the product line
- Coordinate packaging prototype and development samples, facilitate sample reviews, document findings, and communicate revisions to suppliers
- Partner with Product Management, Marketing Creative, Sourcing, and Compliance to resolve development challenges and align packaging with approved requirements
- Collaborate with domestic and international suppliers to resolve technical issues, optimize manufacturability, and ensure packaging is ready for production on time
- Maintain accurate packaging development documentation including specifications, sample evaluations, revisions, and approvals
- Improve existing packaging through enhancements in manufacturability, performance, quality, materials, cost, and production processes
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining schedules, tracking milestones and deliverables, and addressing risks within the company’s phase-gate development process
- Lead packaging development discussions with suppliers to clarify requirements, coordinate activities, and drive project execution
- Build and maintain technical expertise in assigned product categories, manufacturing processes, materials, supplier capabilities, and applicable industry standards
- Attend trade shows and industry events to identify opportunities for packaging innovations, develop supplier relationships, and strengthen technical knowledge
- Travel domestically and internationally to evaluate manufacturing capabilities, support supplier development, validate production readiness, and advance development projects
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $110,000 annually.
Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and work location, and thus may differ from the posted range. Base salary is just one part of your total reward package.
