We are GDIT. We think. We act. We deliver. There is no challenge we can’t turn into opportunity. Our work depends on a Technical Communications Specialist joining our Federal Services System Support and Oversight (FSSSO) team to remotely support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Technical Communications Specialist supporting CMS, you will be trusted to translate finalized Independent Dispute and Resolution (IDR) system requirements and screen‑language changes into clear, timely communications—keeping users informed while aligning content to release schedules and feedback from structured multi‑step clearance cycles. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Drafting and updating announcements, notices, and system‑generated emails based on finalized inputs from upstream teams and multi-step CMS clearance review cycles.
- Preparing CMS.gov website content change notices aligned to release timelines and approved system behavior.
- Managing fast‑turnaround content with precision, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across artifacts and releases delivered timely according to the project schedule.
- Tracking, adjudicating, and incorporating CMS review comments and ensuring all changes align with approved language, terminology, and accessibility standards.
- Coordinating with the Agile Liaison, Operations Coordinator, Production Support, and other cross-functional teams to ensure communications sequences match system deployment timelines and protect downstream ETO deliverables.
- Maintaining templates, tone, and formatting standards; validating content against approved screen language, system behavior, terminology guidance, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional writing or technical communications experience for federal or highly regulated programs.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex policy, regulatory, and technical requirements into user‑centered communications supporting system releases or program operations.
- Experience delivering fast‑turnaround communications tied to structured release schedules, with high editorial accuracy and version control discipline.
- Section 508 experience remediating and validating documents and web content (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat).
- Experience creating or updating email templates and public‑facing notices aligned with approved screen language, support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards, and system‑generated communication patterns.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, including styles, tracked changes, structured templates, and accessibility tools.
- Ability to effectively manage multi‑stakeholder feedback cycles—from tracking comments to documenting adjudications and ensuring traceability across communication artifacts.
- Candidate must be able to obtain a T4 Public Trust clearance
- Candidate must have lived in the U.S. at least 3 out of the last 5 years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with CMS, CCIIO, HealthCare.gov, Affordable Care Act, or No Surprises Act-related programs.
- Experience coordinating content updates with Scrum, HCD, and product stakeholders and reconciling inputs from multi-stakeholder review cycles.
- Knowledge of Salesforce‑triggered emails and common communication patterns for system‑generated notices.
- Experience with screen‑capture tools such as SnagIt.
