Overview:

Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as an Emergency Department Technician.

Position Status: Part Time (24 hours/week), night shift

Position Location: Sentara Leigh Hospital Emergency Department

Overview

Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.

De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.

BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.
 

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

New incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum Education:

• EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR
• Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR
• Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.

Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED Tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

• Previous clinical experience (Required)

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $20.07 - $29.88 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage.
