Job Description:

Accountabilities:

Leadership and Staff Supervision 

  • Provides effective leadership, supervision, coaching, and support to campaign staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment. 
  • Provides oversight of multiple Christmas campaigns, ensuring campaign leads have clear objectives, timelines, resources, and accountability while maintaining overall alignment with organizational priorities. 
  • Clearly delegates responsibilities, establishes expectations, monitors progress, and holds staff accountable for agreed-upon deliverables and outcomes. 
  • Monitors staff performance and campaign progress, provides regular feedback and coaching, addresses challenges proactively, and supports staff development. 
  • Maintains clear and consistent communication across campaign teams and with organizational leadership, ensuring information, decisions, and expectations are effectively communicated. 
  • Establishes appropriate reporting mechanisms and monitors campaign milestones, outcomes, risks, and resource requirements, providing regular updates to leadership. 
  • Identifies potential risks affecting campaign delivery and develops practical contingency plans to address staffing, operational, logistical, or other emerging challenges. 
  • Evaluates campaign processes and outcomes, captures lessons learned, and implements improvements to strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of future Christmas campaigns. 

 

Program Support  

  • Regularly meet with Campaign team leads to ensure all aspects of the campaigns are covered.  
  • Assist in logistics for Christmas fundraising campaigns including but not limited to; Volunteer Appreciation/Christmas Kettle kick off, Radiothon, Santa Claus parade, Fill-A-Bag staple parties, distribution and ingathering events. 
  • Support overall Christmas campaign operations as required. 

 

Media Relations 

  • Identifies and develops opportunities to increase awareness of Christmas campaigns as well as ongoing services, and their community impact. 
  • Develops and executes PR strategies that support Christmas campaign objectives, strengthen organizational reputation and generate positive public awareness. 
  • Work with Pathways of Hope Representative to proactively identify compelling stories and spokespeople to develop media pitches, releases and other communications materials. 
  • Translates the impact of The Salvation Army’s work into compelling, respectful and audience-appropriate stories, including beneficiary, donor, volunteer and community stories. 
  • Works with media specialist to integrate social media, digital content and other communications channels to create cohesive and high-impact Christmas campaign messaging. 
  • Develops relationships with community partners, including Radio, and local newspapers, as well as corporate supporters, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders to amplify campaign reach and engagement. 
  • Supports the communications and PR components of Christmas campaign events, launches, kettle initiatives and community activations. 
  • Perform other position related duties as required.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  

  • This is a Seasonal full-time position based on up to 40 hours per week. 
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required, and schedule may vary from week to week.  
  • Ability to lift/move more that 10 lbs. (4.5kg) 
  • This job requires reaching, bending, stooping and working in a standing position. 
  • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. 

 

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:  

  • Completed High School or equivalent. 

 

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: 

  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be an asset. 
  • Experience in office administration. 
  • Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); and other software programs (VSP) pertinent to the campaigns. 
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.  
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.  

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.95 to $22.08 with a maximum of $26.20.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
