Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
About the Role
Anduril’s Demand & Supply Planning team is seeking an exceptional Material Planner to drive material availability for cutting-edge defense hardware—spanning static sensor platforms, mobile ground equipment, and flight vehicles.
In this role, you will hold end-to-end material flow ownership across the value chain, from raw components through to finished goods. You won’t just manage tickets; you will own specific product lines and assemblies, serving as the critical link that dictates to Purchasing and Manufacturing exactly what to build/buy, how many and when.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly iterating environment where engineering designs evolve quickly. You possess a bias toward action, absolute accountability, and the problem-solving grit needed to ensure our production lines never miss a beat.
What You’ll Do
- Production & Material Scheduling: Build, maintain and execute dynamic production plans. Translate engineering demand into executable build schedules, aligning closely with Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing to guarantee component availability
- Clear-to-Build (CTB) Management: Maintain real-time shortage visibility across active programs. Generate actionable CTB reports to proactively flag risks, prioritize dock-to-stock material flow and prevent line-down situations.
- Engineering Change Implementation (ECO/ECN): Partner directly with Hardware Engineering to assess inventory exposure, manage revision cut-ins and minimize scrap during rapid design iterations.
- Supply Signaling & Forecasting: Provide forward-looking demand signals to Strategic Sourcing and Procurement for long-lead, custom mechanical and electrical components.
- ERP & Master Data Hygiene: Take direct ownership of MRP parameters within Oracle (lead times, safety stocks, reorder points, scrap factors, and Bills of Materials) to ensure system recommendations reflect reality.
- Consumables & Floor Stock Strategy: Design and manage replenishment strategies (e.g., Kanban, Min/Max) for production consumables, fasteners, and floor stock to ensure uninterrupted assembly.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate daily across Production, Quality, Logistics and Sourcing to reallocate materials, resolve Non-Conforming Material (MRB) holdups and expedite critical parts
- Champion Process Improvement: Actively hunt for inefficiencies, manual workarounds and gaps across planning, warehousing and inventory systems. Don't wait for permission or instructions—take the initiative to design scalable solutions, rally cross-functional partners (Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, etc), and lead the charge from concept to execution.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of material planning, production control or supply chain experience in a high-mix or fast-paced manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or complex electronics).
- Demonstrated Ownership & Initiative: A proven track record of identifying broken or inefficient operational processes and autonomously leading the charge to implement corrective, scalable solutions.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex Bills of Materials involving electro-mechanical assemblies, wire harnesses or precision-machined structures.
- Hands-on experience operating within ERP/MRP systems (Oracle strongly preferred; SAP, Netsuite or similar accepted).
- Strong data manipulation skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, index/match) to build models and shortage trackers from scratch.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 15–20%.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Irvine, CA (or relocate prior to starting).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in NPI (New Product Introduction) environments where engineering changes occur frequently and rapidly.
- Experience leading Kaizen events, value-stream mapping and/or cross-functional operational improvement projects that delivered measurable results in inventory accuracy, cycle time reduction or shortage prevention.
- Self-starter mindset: A proven track record of resolving complex operational bottlenecks with minimal supervision and high agency.
