Description

Category Buyer - Indirect Spend

Help shape the future of procurement

Procurement today is about much more than negotiating contracts. It is about making smart decisions that help an organisation perform better, innovate faster and operate more sustainably.

As Category Buyer Indirect Spend, you will own a diverse portfolio of indirect spend categories and play a key role in shaping how we source, select and manage suppliers. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business while connecting local priorities with an international procurement network. Your decisions will influence costs, supplier performance, business continuity and sustainability across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you are responsible for developing and executing category strategies for your assigned indirect spend categories. You will analyse supplier markets, identify opportunities and translate business needs into procurement solutions that create value.

A typical week could include:

  • Leading sourcing and tender projects from strategy through implementation.
  • Building and executing category plans that support business objectives.
  • Partnering with stakeholders in Finance, HR, IT, Facilities, Operations and other functions to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Negotiating contracts, commercial conditions and service agreements with suppliers.
  • Managing supplier relationships and driving continuous performance improvements.
  • Identifying opportunities for supplier consolidation, standardisation and efficiency gains.
  • Monitoring spend, savings and procurement performance.
  • Supporting the implementation of international procurement initiatives and category strategies within the local organisation.
  • Contributing to sustainability, compliance and risk management objectives.

An international role with local ownership

What makes this position particularly interesting is the balance between autonomy and international collaboration.

You will have clear ownership of your categories and the freedom to drive improvements locally. At the same time, you will collaborate closely with procurement colleagues across countries and business units, sharing best practices, contributing to global strategies and helping translate international procurement ambitions into local results.

Why you'll enjoy this role

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

You will thrive here if you like:

  • Taking ownership and seeing the impact of your decisions.
  • Working across multiple business functions and influencing stakeholders.
  • Managing complex supplier relationships and negotiations.
  • Turning data and market insights into practical actions.
  • Driving procurement maturity and continuous improvement.
  • Being part of an international environment where collaboration and knowledge sharing are valued.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a procurement professional who can build strong relationships, challenge the status quo and create value through effective category management.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent level of working and thinking.
  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Category Management, Strategic Sourcing or Supplier Management.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Experience working with a broad stakeholder network.
  • An analytical mindset combined with commercial awareness.
  • The ability to operate confidently in both Dutch and English.
  • Experience in indirect procurement or international organisations would be an advantage.
