Job Description Summary & Additional Information
The Environmental Digital Program Coordinator supports environmental education, digital learning, professional development, and institutional initiatives through project coordination,
content development, multimedia production, program administration, and educational technology.
The position coordinates multiple small projects and digital programs while helping translate environmental and scientific information into engaging educational content. The ideal candidate has a background in environmental science, education, or a related field and an interest in using digital technologies and innovative approaches to advance environmental education, professional learning, and science communication.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination: Coordinate multiple small projects, including managing timelines, deliverables, communications, documentation, and follow-up
Content & Curriculum Development: Develop, edit, and maintain environmental and science-related content for digital courses, programs, websites, and educational resources, including learning objectives, course outlines, instructional materials, and multimedia content.
Platform Administration: Administer the EDGE and edX platforms, including account support, participant
enrollment, course creation/updates, and Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) edits. Administer the digital credential platform, including issuing credentials,
maintaining participant records, managing data, and supporting credential-related activities.
Accessibility Compliance: Ensure digital content, documents, and web materials meet WCAG accessibility standards, including updating and remediating materials for accessibility compliance.
Multimedia Production: Record, edit, and produce educational videos, presentations, interviews, and other
multimedia content. Conduct interviews with faculty, researchers, educators, and subject matter experts for incorporation into courses and digital resources.
K-12 & Educator Outreach: Coordinate Maryland State Department of Education professional development programs for teachers, including enrollment, participant communications, course updates, program records, Continuing Professional Development certificates, flyers, and digital materials.
Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain contact lists and outreach databases, and build relationships with educators, partners, and stakeholders to promote Office of Professional Studies programs and initiatives.
Student Affairs & Institutional Support: Support institutional initiatives, including accreditation activities, assessment, student affairs projects, and cross-departmental programs and priorities. Support New Student Orientation, career readiness, alumni engagement, and other educational programs through coordination, communications, documentation, and digital materials.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in Environmental Science, Education, Science Communication, Instructional Design, or a related field.
Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., edX, EDGE), digital credentialing tools, educational technologies, multimedia production (video editing,
recording), and web accessibility standards (WCAG).
Strong organizational skills, effective written and oral communication, ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible content,
and experience in building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of professional administrative or coordinator experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge of best practices in organization, administration, and customer service.
Knowledge of proper protocol in dealing with confidential information.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.)
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
