Description
A leading organisation is seeking an Insurance Key Account Manager to take strategic ownership of a portfolio of high-value insurance, fleet, trade and national accounts. This role is ideal for a strong B2B commercial professional who combines strategic account management, executive stakeholder engagement and data-driven decision-making with a clear focus on profitable growth and customer retention. The successful candidate will act as the commercial lead for assigned accounts, identifying growth opportunities, strengthening senior-level relationships and coordinating internal teams to ensure exceptional delivery against contractual and customer commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Own the growth, profitability and commercial performance of assigned strategic accounts.
- Develop and implement account strategies focused on market share growth, customer retention and increased account value.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer penetration, conversion, take-up rates and margins.
- Identify and develop new key account and business opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers, executives and key customer stakeholders.
- Lead structured customer engagements, business reviews and strategic account discussions.
- Manage contractual commitments, SLAs, governance requirements and account performance.
- Support commercial negotiations, contract renewals, tenders, RFPs and strategic proposals.
- Analyse account performance, leakage trends, competitor activity and market developments.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across sales, operations, marketing, finance, technical and support functions.
- Drive alignment between commercial strategy and operational delivery.
- Promote relevant technical, digital and service capabilities as key commercial differentiators.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related field.
- A Degree in Business, Commerce or Commercial Management would be advantageous.
- 5–7 years' experience in strategic account management, key account management or a senior B2B commercial role.
- Proven experience managing large, complex or high-value customer portfolios.
- Experience within the insurance, fleet, automotive or service sector would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse profitability, market share and account performance.
- Excellent executive stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with tenders, proposals, contract negotiations and SLA management.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and cross-functional leadership capability.
- A results-driven approach with a strong focus on customer retention, profitable growth and long-term value creation.
