​Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1400 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The High School, established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on Stanwich Road. Greenwich Country Day School seeks an Elementary Math Enrichment Specialist, Grades Kindergarten - 5th, to start in January 2026.  Successful candidates will possess content and pedagogical expertise, a dedication to collaboration, and a creative and flexible approach to curriculum design and instruction. 

Each GCDS faculty member is expected to demonstrate ability in the following areas:

  • Pedagogical Strategy & Design: Implements GCDS Design Principles, backward design, and diverse pedagogical tools to create relevant, authentic learning experiences and foster student engagement.
  • Student Support & Assessment: Sets high expectations, supports social, emotional, and academic needs, provides timely feedback, and uses varied formative and summative assessments to measure progress.
  • Community & Collaboration: Fosters an inclusive culture of mutual respect, communicates effectively with families, and showcases student work within the community.

Responsibilities Include:

4th & 5th Grade Enrichment (6th Math Block)

  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 10:30–11:15 AM (45 mins)

UES Tiger Time (Mon–Thu, 3:00–4:00 PM)

  • Math Challenge Group (puzzles, games, logic enrichment)
  • Competitive math (Grades 1–3)

Mentoring & Buddy Programs

  • Oversee peer mentoring between MS/US and LES/UES
  • Manage UES/LES Math Buddies program

K–3 Boost Cohorts

  • Morning Cohort: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM
  • Afternoon Cohort: Tuesday & Thursday, 3:20–3:50 PM

Co-Teaching & Classroom Support (LES/UES Homeroom Math)

  • 1st Grade: Stern (support), Fineman & Amado (enrichment)
  • 2nd Grade: Warren (enrichment), Amaro (support)
  • 3rd Grade: Punterreri (support), Newport (mixed levels)
  • 4th Grade: Lehn (support), Carter (largest cohort)
  • “Just-in-Time” Small Group Interventions

Playful, informal math

Math Lab

  • Rotating class visits
    • Math menu

Additional Academic Responsibilities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience with children of this age
  • Strong background in mathematical knowledge; including  pedagogical content, and a wide range of instructional strategies
  • Expertise in using and helping others use effective instructional and assessment practices that are informed by knowledge of mathematical learning trajectories
  • Experience with inquiry-based learning and/or project-based learning
  • A passion for learning and the ability to motivate and inspire students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community
  • Willingness to take on multiple roles within the school
  • Personal traits appropriate for nurturing the growth of children - must be energetic, creative, flexible, and patient

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in the field
  • Specific experience with Illustrative Mathematics (IM)
  • Expertise in planning for and implementing problem-based teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing collaborative relationships with external partners/organizations in the design and implementation of learning experiences
