Substitute Aide

 Position Summary:  

The Substitute Aide will support our Early Education or Kindergarten classrooms on an as-needed basis. Substitute aides step in when regular staff are absent, helping maintain a consistent, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel safe and supported. 

Responsibilities: 

Primary:  

Classroom management – 100% 

• Assist the lead teacher and classroom team in caring for and supervising children ages 3 – kindergarten. 
• Follow the established classroom routines and daily schedule. 
• Engage children in play, learning activities, and transitions. 
• Support with basic needs such as toileting, meals, and rest time. 
• Maintain classroom safety, cleanliness, and order throughout the day. 
• Communicate with staff and children in a positive and respectful manner.

Requirements

Education:  

Required Education:  

• High School Diploma or equivalent  

Experience:  

Required Experience:  

• Previous experience working with young children.  
• Ability to meet state childcare licensing requirements, including a background check and health clearances.  

Skills:  

• Reliable and able to respond to last-minute calls or scheduling needs. 
• Friendly, patient, and adaptable to different teaching styles and environments. 

Travel: This position requires some local travel.  

Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment and will routinely use standard office equipment such computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. The work environment also involves working in a Preschool-12 Private Christian School and Evangelical Church environment and all employees are expected to have a demonstrated and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  

Working Hours: Typically, employees are expected to work during normal hours and days of business, between Monday and Friday. Specific expectations for each position will be communicated by the supervisor of this position. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. This position works as needed, communicated by the school.
