Description
As a General Operative at Enva, based in Perth, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of the fridge plant, supporting the processing and recycling of refrigeration units.
You will be responsible for the handling, de-pollution, dismantling and processing of fridges and associated components, ensuring all work is carried out in line with strict environmental and safety regulations, particularly relating to refrigerants and hazardous materials.
This role directly supports Enva’s sustainability objectives by ensuring compliant and efficient recovery of materials from waste refrigeration units
Key Responsibilities
- Fridge Processing & De-pollution: Safely process refrigeration units through the designated plant, including preparation, feeding, and monitoring of equipment in line with operating procedures.
- Hazardous Component Handling: Support the safe removal and segregation of hazardous materials, including refrigerants, oils, and insulation foam, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Plant & Machinery Operation: Operate and monitor fridge plant machinery, including conveyors, shredders and extraction systems, ensuring efficient throughput and minimal downtime.
- Quality & Compliance Checks: Inspect incoming fridge units to ensure correct categorisation and identify any contamination or non-compliant items before processing.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Strictly follow all site procedures, particularly those relating to hazardous waste handling and fridge de-pollution, reporting any risks, incidents or equipment faults immediately.
- Production Targets: Work collaboratively with the team to achieve daily processing targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe and organised plant area, ensuring all workspaces remain compliant with housekeeping and safety expectations.
- Flexibility Across Site
This role is primarily based within the fridge plant; however, you may also be required to support other areas of the site, including the yard and pre-pick operations, in line with business needs and where appropriately trained.

- Full-time role based in Perth.
- 48 hours per week (Monday to Friday, weekend work may be required to meet operation needs. OT available)
- This role is for Days (Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, Friday 3pm finish) or Night Shift (Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 7am) but there may be occasions that shifts can change to meet operational demands.
- £13.50 to £14.00 hour depending on training and experience (additional £1.00 per hour for night shift)
- Work environment is predominantly in a warehouse or processing facility.
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience in a recycling or waste management environment
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to recycling.
- Mechanical aptitude or experience in dismantling electronic equipment is advantageous.
- Ability to operate machinery or willingness to be trained.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting and moving equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
