Overview
Responsible for oversite of all Department functions. This includes the overall planning, design, funding, coordination, communication, direction, provision and fiscal management of all department programs in accordance with the rules, regulations, and policies of the hospital (and the hospital's strategic objectives), federal and state laws, rules, regulations and standards of all governmental agencies and regulatory and accreditation bodies relating to physicians and hospitals (including the statndards of the Joint Commission). The Chair shall define the scope of work for the department and all faculty members, and identify time spent in clinical services, research, teaching and administration. A regular and effective method of communication with all faculty members will be maintained through regularly scheduled meetings, oral, and written communication. Provide caring, safe, state-of-the-art diagnostic medical services to our patients, their families, and referring physicians in a responsive and efficient fashion. Participates in educational programs, scholarly and administrative activities, and serves as a consultant to CMH and community physicians.

Responsibilities
- Oversees all Department functions.
- Provides quality services to patients.
- The Chair / Center Director is expected to provide administrative oversight of their unit's clinical services, training programs, research initiatives and community engagement in full partnership with their respective administrator
- Be a visible leader who engages in consistent and clear communication, both internally and externally, across all organizational stakeholders. A successful Chair or Center Director is expected to demonstrate exceptional leadership and effective management to leverage current strengths in their Department and to lead their unit to excel. Actively cultivate new and existing revenue sources to expand funding for research activities through the organization.
- Will implement strong mentoring and management training processes that will strengthen the leadership skills among the existing unit leaders and develop / retain promising future leaders for the enterprise. These efforts are to be in collaboration (as well as to supplement) with the efforts of the CMRI, the Medical Staff, the Office of Faculty Development, the Leadership Center for Physicians and the Office of Well Being
- The Chair / Center Director is expected to develop a research strategy that 1) resonates with the culture of the subspecialty; 2) utilizes the strengths of current faculty; 3) aligns with the strengths of the CMRI; 4) nurtures a strong culture of cross collaboration between disciplines; 5) leads to nationally recognized work product / external funding and 6) stands the test that investment and expectations match.

- MD/DO, completion of applicable residency and fellowing, BC in specialty area and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
- CMH Hospital Priveleges Required
