Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join a fast-paced, multi-specialty surgical team in Manhattan, Kansas.
In this role, you will provide perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties, with a strong emphasis on orthopedic procedures, total joint replacements, and sports medicine surgeries. The facility operates six surgical suites and performs approximately 20 surgeries daily, including Orthopedics, ENT, Gynecology, Spine, Urology, Cataracts, and General Surgery. Candidates must have previous orthopedic operating room experience, including familiarity with Zimmer and Arthrex instrumentation and equipment, and be comfortable supporting multiple surgical specialties throughout the day.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced OR RN who thrives in a high-volume, team-oriented surgical environment and enjoys working closely with surgeons and surgical technologists. The position offers flexible shift lengths, no required weekends, holidays, or on-call coverage, and the opportunity to work in a smaller, physician-owned surgical hospital where teamwork, efficiency, and versatility are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
- Serve as a circulating Registered Nurse, coordinating patient care, maintaining operating room safety, and supporting the surgical team throughout procedures.

- Assist with surgical procedures across multiple specialties, including:
- Orthopedic Surgery and Total Joint Replacements
- Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Procedures
- Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgery
- Gynecologic Surgery
- Spine Surgery
- Urologic Surgery
- Cataract and Ophthalmologic Surgery
- General Surgery
- Complete perioperative nursing assessments, verify patient information, and ensure appropriate surgical preparation before procedures.
- Coordinate surgical time-outs, patient positioning, equipment readiness, and adherence to established surgical safety protocols.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other perioperative professionals to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
- Monitor patient safety throughout surgical procedures, including maintaining sterile technique, infection prevention practices, and accurate surgical counts.
- Prepare operating rooms, organize necessary surgical equipment and supplies, and assist with case setup.
- Pull surgical cases, perform terminal cleaning, and prepare operating rooms for subsequent procedures in the absence of a dedicated turnover or environmental services team.
- Float to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) as needed to assist with instrument organization and departmental support.
- Maintain accurate and timely perioperative nursing documentation using Meditech Expanse.
- Provide care for both adult and pediatric surgical patients based on assigned procedures.
- Adapt to changing case assignments, surgical schedules, and specialty requirements throughout the day.
- Participate in additional departmental cross-training opportunities after completing the initial orientation, when available.
- Support operating room efficiency, case turnover, and teamwork in a high-volume surgical environment.
- Follow organizational policies, professional nursing standards, infection prevention protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
