Summary

As an Access Associate, you will be responsible for many administrative support duties, such as greeting patients, performing check-in and check-out procedures and processing payments. This position requires a warm and inviting disposition, as you will be the first point of contact for our patients and their families.

 

Responsibilities

•Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information.  

Greeting of patients and/or their representatives and providing direction as needed.     

•Scheduling and/or prescheduling patient appointments.     

•Interviewing the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and completing the registration process as defined by deparmental policy.     

•Identification of services where no payment source has been identified to be followed up by communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements.     

•Verification of insurance eligibility/coverage and obtaining necessary precertifications/authorizations when applicable.     

•Collecting/processing co-payments, deductables and/or other types of payments. Provides an estimate of cost when applicable.     

•Reviews charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy.      

•Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy.     

•Communication with external customers such as but not limited to; payers, physician offices and other departments.     

•Accurately sets up new patient record via Care Connect.      

•If qualified, may be asked to interpret on occasion.     

•Performs other duties as assigned.     

 

Minimum Qualifications

•GED or High School Diploma

 

Preferred Qualifications

•2 year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred

•1 year customer service experience strongly preferred

•Intermediate computer skills

•Excellent customer service and communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.

PAY RANGE:

$17.85 - $20.00Pittsford14534

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
