Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

The Mold Technician role is responsible for changing molds on foam molding machines to ensure efficient production and high-quality products.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment 
  • Change molds on foam molding machines in a timely and efficient manner 
  • Inspect molds for damage or wear and report any issues to management 
  • Clean and maintain molds to ensure proper functioning 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues to minimize downtime 
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area 
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement/Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • A minimum of 3 – 6 months relative manufacturing experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience in mold changing or strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics 
  • Knowledge or experience in ERP/MRP systems 
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with Microsoft Office -- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint -- and have experience with ERP systems.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; must be able to visually identify and trouble shoot issues with the machine processes. Must be able to read gauges, paperwork, and other visuals associated with the process. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers; talk and hear. Frequently required to reach, stoop, bend, squat, stretch, and twist. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is routinely required to reach with hands and arms.?Must be able to work in, with, and near machinery and work with hand tools. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, safety glasses and steel/composite toe shoes, and gloves. Hearing protection and PPE is based on job assignments, tasks, or work areas. Must apply critical thinking to perform problem solving for complex tasks, including recognizing hazards and mitigating risk. Must have the ability to provide clear directions for tasks. Must be able to operate machines and support equipment. The employee must be able to work at heights and be able to use a ladder.

The work environment is typical of most manufacturing environments with proximity to other production associates, materials, and machinery. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high level with ear protection required. Moderate exposure to heat, cold, and noise. Heat and cold exposure is dependent on external weather temperatures. Work areas may occasionally have wet or damp conditions.
