POSITION SUMMARY:
Arapahoe Basin Lift Operations enjoys working with guests and aims to provide exceptional customer service every day.
We are passionate about skiing/snowboarding and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with our guests. One thing is for sure: we work hard and we play hard.
As the Lift Operations Assistant Manager, you will assist in the daily oversight of the lift operations department including, but not limited to, scheduling, record/log maintenance, payroll, training, and disciplinary actions.
This position will be responsible for making department operational decisions in the Manager’s absence.
WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Arapahoe Basin’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Hourly pay range: $24.25 - $35.25/hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist in creating scheduling for department.
Conducts training program for new hires and assists in on-the-job training.
Oversees bi-weekly payroll.
Assists Lift Operations Manager with coaching, disciplinary actions and other essential administrative functions.
Acts as a department representative and decision maker when department manager is unavailable.
Directs and ensures lift areas are setup to company and tramway standards.
Works with guests to resolve any issues.
Conducts the daily lift start-ups including being on property early in case of road closures or avalanche blasting.
Understands and adheres to company policies, ensuring all department employees are trained to these guidelines.
Is thoroughly familiar with ANSI B-77, Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board & Colorado Skier Safety Act.
Has ability to be trained on company vehicles, including snowmobile.
Provide and promote excellent customer service to all guests to ensure a day worth repeating.
Train and encourage employees to actively participate in sustainability initiatives and support them in maintaining sustainable practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years previous lift operations experience.
Previous management experience.
Complete all departmental safety trainings and snow blower training.
Complete all drive terminal training checklists.
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Swing and bump chairs on all A-Basin lifts requiring this technique.
Safely operate a Snowmobile.
Demonstrates interpersonal and guest service skills
Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Must provide own ski/snowboard equipment, under layers, gloves
Must be available weekends and holidays
Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check – required
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent – Required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times
Ability to stand and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the shift
Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level or higher
Ability to use a full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to ascend and descend ladders
Ability to visually and audibly inspect for irregularities in machinery

WORKING CONDITIONS:
You will work almost 90% of the time outside in a cold, snowy, high alpine, environment. Noise levels of machinery can be high and exposure to heights is frequent. You will work with guests frequently on a daily basis. Riding a chairlift is required for this role. Some work will be performed in an office setting using a computer.
