Description
Assists residents of the Housing Services program with those activities that they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times residents’ independence and freedom of choice.
Schedule:
Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Activities of Daily Living:
Provides assistance with activities of daily living, particularly meals and limited personal care.
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living:
Provides assistance with instrumental activities of daily living including but not limited to: telephone, housekeeping tasks, laundry, escort service and other personal assistance services.
Health Maintenance and Monitoring:
Observes and reports changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive/emotional status.
Monitors for environmental safety hazards.
Records incidents, errors and/or accidents.
Records resident-related events.
Dining:
Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining, including but not limited to: setting up and cleaning tables, serving meals, busing tables and escorting residents to and from dining room.
Activity Program:
Responsible for encouraging resident participation in building events supporting their well-being.
Emergency Preparedness:
Responds and takes appropriate action in emergency/disaster situations, following established procedures.
Leadership:
Acts as as a relations representative to guests and other visitors.
Administrative. Assists with maintaining inventory of housekeeping, kitchen and other needed supplies and follows procedures for ordering replacements. Prepares and maintains resident documentation including verification forms and paperwork related to meals.
Other Duties:
Attends and participates in staff meetings.
Participates in in-service sessions, projects and/or committees as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CHSP Supervisor, CHSP Manager, Manager of Senior Housing Services or Property Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma /G.E.D. and 1 year caregiver/homemaker experience required. Course work in geriatrics or related field and/or previous experience working in a geriatric environment desired. Must have the ability to: read, write/print legibly, follow oral and written directions, maintain confidentiality; be customer service oriented, work effectively with a culturally diverse frail, elderly population; and work flexible hours. Must be able to provide own reliable transportation to and from assignments.
Position requires the ability to: move freely throughout the building, including climbing stairs; reach bend, squat, lift/push 50 lbs., and stand 85% of the time. Must possess visual and hearing acuity and clear speech sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
