The GFAC Project Planning Engineer – Schedule, Cashflow, & AI role offers an outstanding opportunity to develop the future of Micron's construction projects by driving innovation and excellence. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining project planning governance, forecasting standards, reporting systems, and digital solutions that support Micron North Asia construction projects.
The role will lead schedule and cashflow governance processes, develop forecasting models, and drive automation initiatives to improve project visibility, reporting efficiency, and decision-making. The position serves as a key enabler for delivering consistent planning methodologies, reliable forecasts, and data-driven insights across Micron's construction portfolio.
Responsibility includes managing and improving planning business processes, developing automation solutions, maintaining enterprise reporting systems, and providing accurate and timely project performance information to stakeholders and management teams.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Schedule Governance
- Develop and maintain project scheduling guidelines, procedures, and planning methodologies.
- Coordinate periodic schedule updates across multiple projects and collaborators.
- Review and validate schedule quality, logic, and forecasting assumptions.
- Analyze schedule performance and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support schedule recovery planning and forecasting activities.
Cashflow Governance
- Consolidate project cashflow forecasts across the construction portfolio.
- Review forecast accuracy and monitor project spending performance.
- Analyze variances between forecasted and actual expenditures.
- Establish and maintain cashflow planning standards and reporting processes.
- Support long-range planning (LRP) and financial forecasting activities.
Modeling & Scenario Planning
- Develop schedule, cost, and cashflow forecasting models.
- Perform scenario analysis and simulation to support business planning.
- Assess project planning assumptions and conduct sensitivity analysis.
- Support planning efforts and project evaluation studies.
Automation & Applying Artificial Intelligence Reporting
- Build and keep up Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Build automation tools and workflows to improve planning efficiency and data quality.
- Manage SharePoint governance and project reporting platforms.
- Standardize reporting processes and establish data governance practices.
- Support digital transformation initiatives within Project Controls and Planning functions.
Collaborator Management
- Collaborate with project managers, project controls, finance, procurement, and site teams.
- Prepare project performance reports and executive management presentations.
- Maintain effective communication with collaborators to ensure alignment of planning assumptions and reporting requirements.
- Ensure planning roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities are clearly understood across project teams.
Bringing to bear Artificial Intelligence
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into planning, forecasting, reporting, and automation activities to improve project performance and operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement AI-enabled opportunities for schedule analysis, forecasting, reporting automation, and knowledge management.
- Contribute to the adoption of AI-enabled work practices by developing and sharing innovative solutions within the planning organization.
- Apply digital proficiency and AI literacy to perform research, analysis, content generation, process automation, and problem-solving while aligning with organizational standards and legal requirements.
Minimum Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Controls, Project Planning, Scheduling, or Construction Management.
- Strong knowledge of scheduling, cashflow forecasting, and portfolio reporting.
- Experience developing dashboards, reporting systems, and business intelligence solutions.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, VBA, Python, or similar automation tools preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting large capital construction projects is highly desired.
- Ability to work effectively within a global multicultural environment.
- Excellent communication and collaborator management skills.
- Language: Mandarin and English required; Japanese is preferred.
