Azelis Czech Republic is looking for a Laboratory Manager for the Food & Nutrition business in the Central Europe Region (Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary), based in Prague.
Mission
The Laboratory Manager supervises the dedicated laboratory activities, formulation development, sample/prototype creation, testing and product characterization in order to support the commercial team (sales, product management, Principal Development Managers, etc.). The role contributes technical expertise to innovation initiatives and is responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation, records, and knowledge management practices.
Main Accountabilities
- Formulation development and optimization
- Manage, develop and manufacture products in accordance with customer formulations;
- Evaluate stability tests;
- Support the manufacturing of products to develop and evaluate formulation.
- Information sharing and record keeping
- Ensure accurate records are kept in line with regulatory requirements;
- Maintain stock records where required;
- Act as technical interface towards principals and customers;
- Contribute to best practice sharing within the technical community EMEA.
- Training and consulting
- Train customers, internal colleagues and suppliers on products and applications;
- Support marketing and sales with customer and supplier events;
- Support sales with customer problem solving.
- Line management and supervisory responsibility of the laboratory activities.
- Health and Safety
- Responsible for all health and safety procedures in the laboratory;
- Continuously improve health and safety procedures;
- Ensure all team members follow health and safety procedures;
- Provide training to team members where required.
- Sustainability
- Translate the Group’s Sustainability Strategy into concrete job-related action items and contribute actively and timely to the implementation of the sustainability KPIs
- Identify and follow up on technical trends, improve technical capabilities accordingly;
- Take up responsibility for overarching, regional project activities;
- Best practices sharing within the technical community EMEA.
Experience, Skills & Education
- Master’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum 5 years of laboratory management experience in the food industry, including direct customer-facing and supplier management responsibilities.
- Broad chemical and application knowledge in Food & Nutrition;
- Experience in laboratory management;
- Ability to influence and achieve results through others;
- Ability to liaise with people at all levels both internally and externally;
- Analytical skills;
- Good knowledge of English;
- Excellent written and spoken Czech (native speaker level).
- Advanced user of various IT tools.
