Manager in Training

Waste Connections is looking for the next generation of leaders to manage locations at our rapidly growing organization.  We are looking for leaders who demonstrate a desire to be part of a world-class safety culture and those with the ability to drive results through relationships.  Candidates should have an entrepreneurial spirit as we are a decentralized company in a fast-paced industry where decisions must be made quickly by local leaders.  Over 12-24 months, Managers in Training will go through an extensive multi-phased training process including hands-on training in every department to prepare you for your next step in your development with our company.

Manager in Training REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Construction Management is preferred

• Previous Waste Industry, Transportation, or Construction experience is a plus

• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and the ability to learn and use company specialized applications

• Must be willing to relocate for promotional opportunities

MANAGER IN TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Position will complete tours of duty in multiple departments to learn the operations, maintenance, sales, and customer service skills needed to run an operating location in the future.

• Will learn how to oversee and implement personnel needs of sites including how to select, coach, discipline, train and evaluate employee performance.

• Majority of work will be conducted hands on in the field.

• Required to be exposed to a physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements.

• Participates in regular P&L reviews to ensure financial obligations are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.

• Will develop core competencies in compliance to applicable environmental laws and regulations.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
